We're looking for Ski Patrol professionals to join our team in Girdwood, Alaska.
What You'll Do
As a Ski Patrol 1, you will play a vital role in providing a safe environment for guests to recreate on the mountain. Whether it's ensuring that trails are safe or enforcing rules while patrolling assigned areas, the members of this team are big contributors to our daily operations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Enforces safe skiing and riding practices in accordance with applicable State of Alaska laws, Alyeska Resort policies, and Ski Patrol procedures.
- Deploys, inspects, repairs, and adjusts closures, padding, ropelines, and other mountain safety materials.
- Provides emergency medical care within the employee's level of certification and Ski Patrol Medical Guidelines.
- Participates in searches for missing or overdue guests, avalanche rescue operations, lift evacuations, high-angle rescues, and other emergency responses as trained and assigned.
- Performs opening and closing procedures, including assigned work, incident documentation, and sweeps. Ensures assigned work runs are completed and maintained throughout the day.
- Performs speed control, responds to collisions, and provides guest education and outreach as part of Alyeska Resort's mountain safety program.
- Monitors lifts and magic carpets during normal patrol operations and promptly reports any observed hazards, damage, or unusual conditions.
- Maintains first-aid facilities, rescue equipment, supplies, storage areas, and public workspaces.
Participates in avalanche mitigation when appropriately trained, authorized, supervised, and assigned.

What We Need
- Possess a current Outdoor Emergency Care certification or Alaska EMT-1 certification or higher.
- Possess a current CPR Basic Life Support certification appropriate for the employee's medical certification. Alyeska will provide refreshers annually during fall training for those who need recertification.
- Demonstrates the advanced skiing ability, control, judgment, and physical fitness necessary to safely perform patrol duties throughout Alyeska's terrain in variable snow, weather, and visibility conditions.
- Demonstrate or complete required Ski Patrol qualification signoffs in toboggan handling, lift evacuation, mountain operations, emergency response, and other assigned patrol functions.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, night operations, and extended shifts when necessary.
- Ability to work outdoors in severe and rapidly deteriorating weather, snow, darkness, and variable mountain conditions.
- Ability to maintain required certifications, training records, and competency sign-offs.
Successful completion of all required core competencies on the Patroller 1 Checklist within the first 60 days (half a season) of employment is a condition of continued employment. Failure to complete the required sign-offs within that timeframe may result in termination.

Physical demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Demonstrate strong skiing and toboggan handling skills
- Ability to lift/carry and ski with minimum load of 75 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to assist with patient handling, assessment, and transportation over steep, variable, and ice or snow-covered terrain.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to steep terrain, high or precarious locations, moving equipment, inclement weather, cold temperatures, snow, wind, limited visibility, and other hazards associated with ski-area and mountain operations.
