We are looking for an experienced medical surgery scheduler, who takes initiative to learn and grow and is excited to be a part of an awesome team! This is a full-time position for our growing medical practice in our Anchorage clinic, Monday- Friday 7:45am-4:15pm. Training is provided for our systems and other duties. Potential to move to a Hybrid work model after 90 days.

Job Duties:
- Functions in a surgery scheduling role within the surgery scheduling team.
- Maintains appointment and surgery schedules.
- Schedules surgeries as ordered by the surgeon in a timely manner.
- Creates and completes surgical scheduling and surgical preoperative paperwork using high level of spelling and grammar skills, as well as attention to detail.
- Supports patients in person and over the phone in a professional and courteous manner.
- Provides basic pre-operative instructions at time of scheduling, including discussions regarding medications.
- Calculates surgeon estimate fees and communicate clearly to patients.
- Tracks surgery payments and ensures they are collected in a timely manner.
- Discusses and manages payment plans with patients as needed.
- Verifies surgery precertification requirements with commercial insurances and initiates prior authorizations as needed.
- Ensures authorizations are in place and completed for Tricare and VA patients.
- Identifies all the unique needs each and every surgery may require and knows the proper steps to bring them to completion.
- Clear, assertive communication with surgeons and providers for needs.
- Communicates with surgery facilities for all scheduling needs.
- Coordinates surgical equipment usage with reps as needed.
- Coordinates imaging needs for surgeries as needed.
- Coordinates joint procedures with other surgeons.
- Organizes and gathers medical clearances as needed.
- Ensures pre-operative surgery documentation is received by the appropriate facility.
- Confirms surgeries with patients and facilities.
- Surgeon block time maintenance.
- Maintains and uses multiple portal systems that assist with information gathering, coordinating, and pre-authorizing.
- Maintains voicemail and provides return calls in a timely manner.
- Assists patients with Medicaid travel authorizations as needed.
- Procedural coding (after training is complete).
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Computer knowledge.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to function as a team and possess strong interpersonal skills.
- Previous experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and appointment scheduling software.
- Attention to detail, timeliness, and strong organization skills required.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate and articulate complex information.
- Can adapt to your own workflow and systems that fit your own personal learning style.
- Positive attitude and ability to handle change.
Preferred Education and Experience
· Previous experience in surgery scheduling, prior authorization, or coding preferred. Willing to train the right person.
· Knowledge in CPT and ICD10.
Payroll is currently run bi-weekly. Holidays and sick leave available day one. Health insurance stipend, paid time off 401K with match after 90 days of employment. Opportunity for annual profit-sharing after a year of employment.
