The Shasta-Tehama-Trinity Joint Community College District (Shasta College) sits at the northern end of the Sacramento Valley, surrounded by mountains to the north, east, and west. The area provides a wide array of outdoor amenities and activities with miles of hiking and biking trails, national parks, two lakes, and the Sacramento River. The main campus is located in the city of Redding, population 90,000. DESCRIPTION OF BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Shasta-Tehama-Trinity Community College District is a collaborative and inclusive organization that strives for equity and equal opportunity and that serves a diverse student population.
Under administrative leadership, it is the responsibility of the full-time college instructor to teach classes and to participate in processes that will result in continuous improvement of instruction and programs, student success and completion, and advancement of the vision, mission, and values of Shasta College.
In addition to instructional duties, this position will also serve as the program director for Licensed Vocational Nursing.
CLASSIFICATION: Placement on the current Faculty Salary Schedule is commensurate with previous education and experience.

Full-time instructional faculty are contracted to work 175 days per year including 164 days of classroom instruction and 11 days of professional growth and development. Instructors enjoy up to 18 weeks off per year during the summer and winter intercessions. The Fall and Spring semesters each contain 17 weeks of instruction with approximately 82 instructional days. The Fall semester begins in late August and ends in mid-December. The Spring semester begins in mid-January and ends in mid-May. The number of hours worked in any given day during a semester will vary based on course schedules. Typical Duties, Knowledge and Ability
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities designated below are primary to the instructor role.
Classroom Responsibilities:

Meet classes/laboratories as assigned within the academic calendar.
- Develop and implement instruction for each class and laboratory period, consistent with the official course outline and District guidelines.

For online and hybrid courses, maintain online course components, including asynchronous or synchronous content delivery, as required by the teaching assignment.
-
For online and hybrid courses, provide regular student-student and student-instructor contact.
-
During the first week of class, distribute a syllabus for each course to communicate to students the course description, objectives, grading, testing, attendance, and other requirements, in accordance with District guidelines on syllabus content.
-
Provide regular, timely feedback to students; return all graded work in a timely fashion.
-
Assign final grades for courses as required by District policy, administrative procedures, California Education Code, and Title 5.
-
Demonstrate respect for student rights as specified in District policy and applicable laws.
-
Submit requisitions for textbooks and instructional materials in a timely manner and with consideration of cost to the student.
-
Refer students to tutoring and related student services when appropriate.
-
Supervise students in off-campus activities when participation is expected as part of a course requirement or where such supervision is part of the instructor's load.

Provide academic assistance and related services to students during scheduled office hours.

Participate in professional development to remain current in the assigned discipline.

Submit required administrative paperwork, including student learning outcomes in a timely and accurate manner.

Experience/Education
Education/Experience Required:

Registered nurse in the state of California with Master's degree OR Master's degree in progress with minimum of 2 years of nursing experience AND one of the following:

One year of teaching or clinical supervision (or a combination of both) for RN or LVN program

Or three years of education experience as an RN
-
Or three years of administration experience as an RN

Must complete the following for approval by the BVNPT:

Completion of the online adult learner's course

Completion of approved curriculum course
-
Completion of approved leadership/administration course
