Role Summary
The Production Shop Specialist manages the Production Shop and equipment assets that support ministries and events across Lutheran Church of Hope campuses. This role focuses on equipment preparation, asset tracking, maintenance, and shop organization. Working closely with the Systems team, this position supports equipment integrations, production installs, and technical logistics while ensuring gear moves efficiently in and out of the shop. This role also develops volunteers who assist with shop operations and occasionally provides hands-on technical production support for services and special events.
Key Responsibilities
Production Shop Management
- Manage daily operations of the Production Shop including equipment preparation, organization, and asset tracking.
- Maintain production equipment inventory using Current, the church’s rental equipment asset management software.
- Coordinate equipment prep and returns for ministry events, campus installs, and internal equipment rentals. (Including providing transport when needed using production box truck.)
- Process incoming equipment from events, purchases, and campus transfers including inspection, cleaning, and organization.
Equipment Maintenance & Repairs
- Maintain and repair production equipment including lighting fixtures, LED panels, cables, connectors, and road cases.
- Perform preventative maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and readiness.
- Maintain shop tools, workspaces, and production transport vehicles.
Systems Team & Logistics Support
- Support the Systems team with equipment preparation for installs, integrations, and technical builds.
- Assist with equipment staging, rack builds, cable preparation, and transport logistics between campuses.
- Coordinate equipment preparation tasks with trained volunteers when appropriate.
Volunteer Development
- Recruit and train volunteers to assist with shop operations and equipment preparation.
- Provide guidance on proper equipment handling, maintenance, and shop organization.
Production Support
- Provide occasional technical production support for worship services, programming, and special events.
- Assist with major campus events such as Easter, Christmas, VBS, and other large gatherings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned in support of Hope’s ministries.
Skills, Education, and Experience
Required Qualifications
- Working knowledge of live production systems including audio, video, lighting, and staging.
- Mechanical and technical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair production equipment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with staff and volunteers.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining clear communication with team members.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to transport equipment between campuses and events.
Position Details
Schedule & Work Environment
- Typical schedule Tuesday–Saturday or similar production-focused schedule.
- Requires occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Work includes walking, standing, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and working at heights up to 40 feet.
- Must be able to see and hear within normal limits, with or without corrective devices.
- Adherence to the Lutheran Church of Hope Staff Covenant is required.
Pay & Benefits
- Full-time, salaried position.
- Compensation commensurate with position and experience, based on national wage surveys of comparable churches.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
