Overview

The North Group (TNG) is a trusted global provider of security risk management solutions, known for its holistic approach to security services and advanced risk management consulting.

We are seeking a Corporate Controller to assist the VP of Finance in overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance. This role is critical to ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and informed decision-making through accurate and timely financial data. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and collaborative, with strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to accountability and continuous improvement.

Essential Functions

Assists in the oversight of all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial close processes
Prepares and delivers accurate, timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Ensures compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements
Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risk
Leads the annual audit process and coordinates with external auditors and regulatory agencies
Supports risk management initiatives by aligning financial controls with risk mitigation strategies
Assists in monitoring cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting processes
Provide financial analysis and insights to executive leadership to support strategic planning
Maintains and assists in the improvement of accounting systems, policies, and procedures for operational efficiency
Ensures compliance with tax regulations and oversee tax filings and strategy
Collaborates cross-functionally with legal, compliance, and operations teams
Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility; however, the Corporate Controller plays a key role in coordinating and overseeing day-to-day financial and accounting activities to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with organizational objectives. The role partners closely with the VP of Finance to support the effective delegation of responsibilities across the finance function, assists in monitoring performance and ensuring accountability for deliverables, and provides guidance and subject matter expertise to team members as needed. The Controller also contributes to fostering a culture of accuracy, integrity, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the finance team.

Minimum Qualifications

Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls
Demonstrated ability to manage complex financial operations
High level of integrity and attention to detail
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and leadership abilities

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles
Experience in financial reporting, audits, and compliance environments

Background Prerequisites

Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks, physical, and controlled substance testing.

Preferred Qualifications

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation strongly preferred
Experience with ERP systems and financial software implementations
Advanced knowledge of financial modeling and data analytics
Prior experience in a risk management, financial services, or professional services firm preferred

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Primarily office-based work environment
May require extended hours during financial close periods, audits, or regulatory reporting deadlines
Occasional travel may be required for audits, training, or corporate meetings
Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer
Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds (e.g., files, office materials)

Schedule & Work Environment

Office based, minimum travel may be required
