Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Therapist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive mental health services in a highly successful DBT Center including children, adolescents and adults. Your expertise will help individuals navigate emotional challenges, develop DBT Skills, learn to regulate their mood and emotions, decrease target behaviors and improve interpersonal effectiveness. ,This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact through direct patient support, clinical counseling, facilitating skills training classes and innovative therapeutic approaches. The ideal candidate is energetic, motivated, and passionate about fostering positive change in clients’ lives.

Responsibilities

Conduct thorough patient assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems to accurately document mental health conditions.
Deliver individual, group, and family counseling sessions using DBT Skills training and DBT prolonged exposure therapy.
Implement crisis intervention strategies to manage urgent mental health situations effectively while ensuring patient safety.
Facilitate intake processes for new clients, gathering comprehensive medical and psychological histories aligned with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality.
Develop personalized treatment plans that incorporate psychotherapy techniques, motivational interviewing, and behavioral management strategies tailored to each client’s needs.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, psychiatrists, pediatric specialists, and special education professionals to coordinate care.
Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient care activities using medical terminology and CPT coding standards for billing and compliance purposes.
Engage in clinical research initiatives to enhance therapeutic outcomes and contribute to the advancement of behavioral health practices.
Provide specialized support for individuals with PTSD, grief issues, addiction challenges, or chronic pain management.
Utilize telehealth platforms to expand access to mental health services while maintaining high standards of patient care.

Skills

Proven expertise in psychotherapy modalities with a willingness to learn Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and become certified in the practice.
Strong working knowledge of ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems for accurate diagnosis documentation.
Experience conducting intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations within outpatient or inpatient settings.
Skilled in crisis management techniques and behavior management strategies for diverse populations.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage patients across age groups—children, pediatrics, geriatrics—and with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges.
Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, HIPAA compliance, and CPT coding for billing purposes.
Ability to deliver services via telehealth platforms while ensuring confidentiality and quality care standards.
Knowledge of social work principles combined with clinical counseling expertise to support holistic patient well-being.
Experience working in hospital or clinic environments with a focus on behavioral health or mental health counseling.
Competence in handling complex cases involving trauma such as PTSD or grief; experience with addiction counseling is a plus.
