Project Designer

Bowers Design Build, a nationally recognized residential design-build firm located in McLean, Virginia, is seeking a talented and motivated Project Designer to join our collaborative design team.

About the Role

As a Project Designer, you will guide residential remodeling projects from initial concept through construction documentation and project completion. Working closely with clients and an integrated team of Architects, Designers, Estimators, and Production professionals, you will develop thoughtful, functional, and beautiful design solutions that align with both client goals and project budgets.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing creativity with technical precision and is excited by the collaborative nature of the design-build process.

What You’ll Do

· Develop creative and functional design concepts for kitchens, bathrooms, additions, whole-house renovations, and custom cabinetry projects.

· Create detailed construction drawings, floor plans, elevations, and 3D models using Chief Architect X16 or newer.

· Produce comprehensive project documentation and specifications.

· Lead clients through product and finish selections, including cabinetry, plumbing fixtures, appliances, lighting, tile, flooring, paint colors, and other interior finishes.

· Design custom cabinetry solutions and coordinate cabinetry specifications and ordering.

· Collaborate closely with Architects, Estimators, and Production Team members throughout the project lifecycle.

· Participate in project meetings and construction site visits to ensure design intent is executed accurately.

· Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting established milestones and deadlines.

· Contribute to a positive, team-oriented culture focused on delivering an exceptional client experience.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

· 3+ years of residential interior design and/or project design experience.

· Advanced proficiency in Chief Architect X16 (or later) with the ability to efficiently produce construction-level drawings.

· Strong residential space planning and design skills.

· Experience developing detailed construction documents and specifications.

· Excellent communication, organization, and client presentation skills.

· Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.

Highly Desired Qualifications

· Previous experience working within a Design-Build environment.

· Strong cabinetry design experience, including custom kitchen, bath, and built-in cabinetry layouts.

· Experience with cabinetry ordering, specification review, and manufacturer coordination.

· Familiarity with residential construction methods and remodeling processes.

· Experience conducting client product selections and finish presentations.

· Proficiency with rendering and visualization tools.
