Position Overview
We are looking for a friendly, dependable, and adaptable Orthodontic Assistant to join our team. This position will be based primarily in our Oxford, AL office, with occasional travel to our Pell City location as needed.
The ideal candidate enjoys working directly with patients, is comfortable in an open clinical environment, and can confidently interact with patients and team members of all ages. Orthodontic experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person.
We are looking for someone who is teachable, takes pride in their work, responds well to constructive feedback, and is interested in growing with our practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the orthodontist during patient appointments and clinical procedures
- Provide efficient chairside assistance and utilize four-handed dentistry techniques
- Take digital photographs and dental radiographs as needed
- Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation
- Prepare treatment areas and maintain an organized clinical environment
- Follow all infection control, sterilization, and safety protocols
- Monitor patient comfort and provide a positive experience throughout each visit
- Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, parents, doctors, and team members
- Educate patients and families on orthodontic care and treatment instructions
- Help maintain efficient patient flow in a busy clinical setting
- Cross-train in other areas of the practice to support the team as needed
- Travel between our Oxford and Pell City offices when required
- Learn and take on additional clinical responsibilities as skills develop
What We're Looking For
- Previous orthodontic or dental experience is preferred but not required
- Willingness to learn new skills and accept constructive feedback
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working with children, teenagers, and adults
- Friendly, positive, and professional chairside manner
- Strong work ethic and dependable attendance
- Ability to stay organized and focused in a fast-paced environment
