POSITION TITLE: Psychometrist

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three years teaching experience
- Alabama certification as Psychometrist
- Human relations skills
REPORTS TO: Special Education Coordinator
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Expected Work day: 8 hours
- Administer and interpret the Wechsler Intelligence Test and various other cognitive, diagnostic and behavioral evaluations
- Serve as chairperson of Multidisciplinary Eligibility Determination Committee
- Assess difficulties of referred students through appropriate testing practices
- Help identify within the school system all types of exceptional children
- Make the testing experience pleasant, while ensuring that the test situation is conducive to maintain validity, reliability and standardization of the evaluation tool
- Assist teachers to use diagnostic test results to identify specific strengths and weaknesses in an academic area
- Interpret diagnostic test results to assist teacher in applying them to strengths and weaknesses that would be useful in writing IEP
- Explain test results to parents and include their input in pinpointing strengths and weaknesses
- Complete behavioral observations in students’ classrooms for students referred for special education
- Generate various comprehensive reports on each student assessed
- Complete Alabama required multidisciplinary eligibility determination committee reports on each student assessed for review at meetings
- Maintain general knowledge of new procedures and updated practices for the identification and placement of special education students in keeping with the Reauthorization of IDEA 1997
- Adhere to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy, and federal rules and regulations
- Serve as 504 coordinator
- Be courteous and professional at all times
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance
