Full Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Adaptive Swim Coach to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with special needs or experience as a swim instructor. This role involves providing specialized aquatic instruction tailored to children with diverse abilities, ensuring that all students learn crucial life saving skills. The position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children by combining physical activity with behavioral support and skill development.

Duties

Design and implement adaptive swim lessons tailored to individual needs of children with special needs
Provide one-on-one behavioral support and guidance during aquatic activities
Ensure the safety of all participants by adhering to strict safety protocols
Utilize behavior management techniques to promote positive engagement and skill acquisition
Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and team members to develop personalized plans for each child
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pool environment at all times
Monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies to meet evolving needs of students
Foster a supportive atmosphere that encourages confidence, independence, and enjoyment of water activities

Qualifications

Experience working with children with special needs OR as a prior swim instructor is required; prior roles as an RBT or similar are highly preferred
Background in swimming, lifeguarding, sports coaching, or teaching physical education is beneficial, but not required at all
Skills in behavior management, child development, and adaptive instruction techniques
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with families and team members
Certification as a lifeguard or in CPR/First Aid is preferred but not mandatory; training can be provided if necessary
Passion for working with children with diverse abilities and committed to fostering an inclusive environment

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15.0 per week
