Full Job Description

Are you highly organized and passionate about making a meaningful impact? Join Volunteer Behavioral Health as a Business Development Coordinator at our Murfreesboro campus. In this full-time, in-person role, you’ll report to the Business Development Director and play a vital part in securing grant funding and supporting community outreach efforts that change lives. We’re looking for a driven self-starter who thrives on making a difference. Your exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, combined with your software expertise and keen attention to detail, will help us continue providing critical services to those in need. What we’re looking for:

At least one year of hands-on grant writing experience.
A BS degree in a related field.
Experience in behavioral health or the nonprofit sector

Starting rate of pay: $45,000

Responsibilities:

1) Draft agenda for and participate in weekly new business development calls to report on prospective grant opportunities, help evaluate opportunities, provide any updates needed, and assist with taking and maintaining minutes.

2) Maintain annual grants calendar to include new application and reporting deadlines, pertinent webinars and funder meetings, and other agency events that require coordination assistance.

3) Full management of the grant cycle, pre-award through submission, and tracking the launch of new programs post-award. Assisting with follow-up to project managers/leadership to record progress and contractual compliance. Communicate with external funders as needed.

4) Researching, compiling, and managing the timeline of all grants including maintenance and oversight of workflow processes and procedures to ensure accurate, efficient collection and timely submission.

5) Assist with writing grant applications (primarily local, State, and foundation) and all Business Development internal reports, and conduct prospect research on new opportunities that align with VBHCS’s mission. Submit or assist with approximately 13-23 state or “other” grant applications per year.

6) Work with all departments to collect and synthesize data for applications.

7) Maintain current business development records electronically and in paper files, as needed, including grant applications, tracking and reporting, fiscal and program implementation notes, timelines, historical decisions, supplemental items (budgets and budget narratives, job descriptions, bios/resumes, letters of support/commitment, org charts, licenses and certificates, other required attachments, etc.), log-in credentials for funder platforms, and drafted and fully executed contracts and written agreements.

8) Assist with the tracking, editing, and creation of MOU/MOAs, as needed. Maintain organized storage of these documents, which are sometimes needed for grant applications.

9) Provide thorough proof-reading and editing, and sometimes creation of written materials (i.e., annual report, articles/blogs, communications, policies, etc.).

10) In cooperation with other Business Development and Marketing/ Communications staff, create monthly internal and external Newsletter content, ensuring approvals before publication, and final dissemination occurs on a regular basis.

11) Assist with Community Outreach team needs including tracking and reporting, project management, and events as needed.

12) Other duties as necessary.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Strong written and oral communication and research skills
Strong editing skills - excellent spelling and grammar
Driven self-starter, who shows initiative and can follow complex instructions
Attention to detail, highly organized, flexible, respectful, tactful, inclusive, discreet, and dependable
Adobe, Excel, Word, Google documents, some graphic design (i.e., Canva)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Prefer at least one year of grant writing experience
BS degree (MS preferred) in a behavioral health field, nursing, counseling, social work, public health, sociology, or similar, or a related field
Experience working in deadline-driven environments
Ability to work well in a team environment and independently, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines
Behavioral health or non-profit experience
This is a full-time position eligible for benefits. Office-based position in Murfreesboro with some work from home. Willingness to travel on occasion and work outside of standard office hours, when necessary.
