Summary
The University of Saint Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary (USML) is the major seminary and graduate school of theology for the Archdiocese of Chicago. Mundelein Seminary is one of the largest priesthood preparation programs in the United States having graduated over 4,000 students since 1926 and serving nearly 30 dioceses in the United States and abroad. In addition to the formation of priests, USML also has a School of Parish Leadership and Evangelization (SPLE) which prepares deacons and lay people for liturgical leadership, ministry and evangelization. These programs are offered onsite, online, and in hybrid modalities and in both English and Spanish.
The Coordinator of Multilingual Ministries (CMM) will report directly to the Dean of SPLE.
The CMM will coordinate ministry programs for our Des Moines and Omaha locations, continue to expand our outreach to the community, the variety of programs offered, and our capacity to meet the needs of this distinctive student population in these locations. Responsibilities will also include efforts to expand into other degree offerings and ministry programs for both Parish Ministry and the Diaconate Programs in English, Spanish, and Polish.

Essential Job Functions
- Coordinate our ongoing Des Moines and Omaha Ministry Programs (in Spanish)
- Coordinate current efforts to create a Spanish MAPS degree; this includes recruiting students, creating/translating content for website, building infrastructure, course scheduling.
- Coordinate current efforts to create a ministry program for the local Latino Charismatic community
- In collaboration with other team members, support our efforts to create Polish-language pilots (in both Parish Ministry and Diaconate Programs)
- In collaboration with other team members, help recruit for and coordinate ongoing Parish Ministry Programs in both English and Spanish.
- In collaboration with other team members, coordinate the creation and updating of SPLE online content (e.g., student and alumni stories) in English and Spanish.
- Coordinate with the staff programming at the different sites of formation.
- Approve faculty and facilitators in Spanish Language parish ministry programs.
- Provide oversight for formation days, retreats, liturgies and other aspects of spiritual and pastoral formation.
- Coordinate with the dean, faculty and staff to review, evaluate and update the curriculum as needed.
- Supervise communication with Pastors and Supervisors and other community leaders as needed.
- Develop and implement ongoing program assessment measures for Spanish language programs.
- Lead SPLE efforts to develop and expand Spanish language programming including degree programs and for credit certificates.
Education and Experience – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
- Coursework/certificate in theology required; master’s degree, degree in theology, ministry or a related field from an accredited institution, preferred.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience with non-profit management and/or higher education-based organizations preferred.
- Three years (3) minimum experience in ministry at the parish and/or diocesan levels.
- Two (2) to Five (5) years’ experience planning and leading retreats and formation events
- Strong network connections in the Latino community of Chicago, required, (other dioceses a plus).
- Strong network connections within the Archdiocese of Chicago, required, (other dioceses a plus).
- Teaching experience in non-degree or degree programs (subjects e.g.: catechesis, pastoral ministry, theology, etc.).
- Fluency in Spanish and English, required.
- Other languages such as Polish, Tagalog, or Vietnamese a plus.
- Must have excellent oral and written communications skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working within a diverse setting with faculty, student affairs staff, students, and family members.
- Experience working with Hispanic population, understanding of culture across all Latin American Countries (Mexico, Guatemala, Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras, Nicaragua, San Salvador, Venezuela, Columbia, Argentina, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Brazil), required.
- Computer literate, with expertise in the Microsoft platforms (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Microsoft and Publisher knowledge preferred), Outlook or comparable software required.
- Experience with Program Assessment and data-based reporting.
