SEO Team & Client Performance ManagerAbout Apartment SEO
Apartment SEO is a full-service digital marketing agency specializing in multifamily housing. We help apartment communities and property management organizations strengthen their online visibility, improve local search performance, and connect with prospective residents through strategic, measurable digital marketing solutions.
As our client portfolio and SEO department continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced people leader who can develop a high-performing team, strengthen operational accountability, and ensure that our clients consistently receive exceptional service and results.
Position Overview
The SEO Team & Client Performance Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day performance of an SEO team while overseeing the health and execution of an assigned client portfolio.
This is first and foremost a people-management role. The successful candidate must have substantial experience directly managing employees, setting expectations, coaching performance, resolving challenges, and holding team members accountable for quality, productivity, and client outcomes.
The ideal candidate combines strong leadership capabilities with practical SEO, digital marketing, campaign management, and client-service experience. This individual will translate departmental strategy into consistent team execution, identify performance risks before they escalate, and ensure employees have the direction, training, and support needed to succeed.
This position reports to the Director of SEO and works closely with SEO leadership, Client Success, Operations, Content, Web Development, Paid Media, Reputation Management, and other cross-functional teams.

- Provide clear day-to-day direction, establish priorities, and ensure employees understand performance expectations.
- Conduct recurring one-on-one meetings, team meetings, performance discussions, and development planning.
- Monitor individual and team performance against established KPIs, service-level expectations, quality standards, and departmental goals.
- Address performance concerns promptly through clear feedback, documented expectations, coaching, and appropriate accountability measures.
- Recognize high performance and create meaningful opportunities for employee growth and advancement.
- Evaluate team capacity, workload distribution, and resource needs to maintain sustainable execution.
- Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, urgency, continuous improvement, and professional accountability.
- Support onboarding and training for new employees while reinforcing departmental SOPs and quality standards.
- Serve as the first level of leadership escalation for workflow, employee, quality, and client-performance concerns.
Client Portfolio Performance
- Oversee the performance and overall health of an assigned portfolio of SEO clients.
- Ensure campaigns are executed accurately, strategically, and within established timelines.
- Review client performance data, scorecards, deliverable status, rankings, traffic trends, and account risks.
- Identify underperforming accounts and develop clear action plans to improve campaign health and client outcomes.

- Support the adoption of AI search, generative-engine optimization, structured data, and emerging search strategies.
- Maintain working knowledge of major Google updates, local-search developments, analytics platforms, and industry best practices.
- Help ensure that SEO work supports meaningful client outcomes—not only rankings, but also qualified traffic, engagement, conversions, tours, and leasing performance when data is available.
Operations and Process Management
- Translate departmental priorities into actionable team plans and measurable expectations.
- Monitor workflows, deadlines, workload queues, campaign milestones, and completion rates.
- Ensure employees consistently follow approved SOPs, documentation standards, and escalation procedures.

- At least five years of direct people-management experience, including responsibility for coaching, mentoring, performance management, workload direction, employee development, and day-to-day accountability.

What Success Looks Like
A successful SEO Team & Client Performance Manager will:
- Build a team that understands its priorities and consistently meets performance expectations.
- Improve employee accountability, professional development, and execution consistency.
- Identify and resolve team or client-performance concerns before they become significant escalations.
- Maintain strong visibility into workloads, deadlines, deliverables, account health, and operational risks.
- Improve the quality, timeliness, and strategic value of SEO campaign execution.
- Establish strong working relationships with employees, clients, and cross-functional partners.
- Create measurable improvements in team KPIs, client health, quality-control results, and portfolio performance.
- Balance empathy and employee support with clear expectations and consistent accountability.
The Leadership Profile We Are Seeking
We are looking for a manager who is comfortable leading from the front while empowering employees to take ownership of their work.
The right candidate is:
- A proven people leader—not solely an experienced individual contributor seeking a management title.
- Direct, fair, supportive, and consistent.
- Comfortable having difficult but necessary performance conversations.
- Able to create structure and clarity in a fast-moving environment.
- Highly accountable for both team execution and client outcomes.
- Skilled at coaching different personalities and experience levels.
- Calm and solutions-oriented during escalations.
- Curious, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement.
- Capable of balancing operational execution with strategic thinking.
Candidates whose experience is primarily limited to independently executing SEO campaigns, without significant direct-report management experience, will not be the strongest fit for this position.
