Full Job Description

About the Role

STEPS is seeking a Kitchen Manager to lead daily kitchen operations within our residential program. This role is critical to ensuring consistent, compliant, and efficient food service delivery while also supporting client engagement through structured kitchen activities.

This is not just a food service role; this is a program-impact position that contributes directly to client stability, routine, and recovery.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, including food preparation, cleanliness, and compliance
Supervise and monitor clients assigned to kitchen duties
Manage food inventory, ordering, and rotation systems
Coordinate purchasing of food and supplies from approved vendors
Develop and maintain menus aligned with Health Department standards
Manage food assistance processes, including applications and tracking for clients
Identify and report operational gaps or concerns to leadership
Maintain accurate communication with staff regarding client and program needs
Ensure compliance with all agency policies, ethical standards, and confidentiality requirements
Report any suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation per Florida regulations
Support or facilitate basic food preparation and nutrition education for clients
Perform additional duties as assigned to support residential operations

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required
Minimum of 2 years of kitchen, food service, or related experience
ServSafe Certification (or equivalent) required or ability to obtain quickly
Strong organizational and inventory management skills
Ability to lead, supervise, and engage clients in a structured environment
Comfortable working in a behavioral health/residential setting
Ability to think proactively and problem-solve in real time
Strong communication and teamwork skills

Additional Requirement:

Minimum of 2 years of abstinence if in recovery
