Full Job Description

Job Summary
The Activities Director plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in long-term care facilities, such as assisted living, nursing homes and senior care centers. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing recreational programs that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being among residents. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in recreational therapy or caregiving, with a focus on dementia care and aging issues counseling.

Responsibilities

Design and implement engaging activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
Coordinate schedules for daily activities, ensuring a variety of options are available to meet diverse needs.
Collaborate with nursing staff to assess residents' physical and emotional needs related to activity participation.
Foster an inclusive environment that encourages resident participation and social interaction.
Train and supervise activity staff and volunteers to ensure high-quality program delivery.
Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff regarding activity schedules and resident engagement.
Evaluate the effectiveness of programs through feedback from residents and staff, making adjustments as necessary.

Requirements

Experience in recreational therapy, caregiving, or related fields is preferred.
Knowledge of long-term care practices, including dementia care and aging issues counseling.
Strong schedule management skills to effectively organize activities for multiple residents.
Excellent communication skills to interact compassionately with residents and their families.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
A passion for enhancing the lives of seniors through meaningful activities.

This position requires a dedicated individual who is committed to improving the lives of seniors through thoughtful programming and compassionate care.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
