Position Title: Program Specialist
FLSA Classification: Full-time, Non-Exempt (Professional)
Description:
In alignment with the organizational mission, vision, goals, values, and strategies, the Program Specialist plays a key role in the implementation, delivery, and continuous improvement of multiple organizational programs and initiatives. This position requires demonstrated experience in training, youth engagement, and program support, with the ability to work independently while collaborating across teams.
Accountability:
The Program Specialist reports to the Associate Director.
Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation and ongoing operations of multiple programs and projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and timelines.
- Work collaboratively with program coordinators and leadership to execute program activities, trainings, and deliverables.
- Lead and deliver trainings, workshops, and presentations, with a strong emphasis on youth engagement and workforce development.
- Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with youth participants, serving as a mentor and facilitator.
- Assist in identifying program and training needs through participant feedback, data, and organizational priorities.
- Represent the organization at outreach events, school and community presentations, including significant regional travel as required.
- Develop and maintain outreach/promotional and program materials, including training guides, toolkits, and participant resources.
- Track, collect, and maintain accurate program data, attendance, and outcomes.
- Support program evaluation efforts by compiling data, identifying trends, and contributing to reports.
- Monitor assigned program components, proactively identifying challenges and recommending solutions.
- Provide logistical coordination for trainings, events, and program activities as needed.
- Collaborate with internal staff and external partners to support program success and continuity.
- Participate in team meetings, committees, and organizational initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in program implementation, training, youth development, healthcare, education, or a related field
Experience and Background:
- Demonstrated experience working with youth in educational, workforce, or community-based settings
- Demonstrated experience delivering youth-focused instruction, facilitation, or training in health, safety, or related content areas
- Strong facilitation, training, and public speaking skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
- Experience supporting program implementation and working within established frameworks
- Ability to analyze basic program data and contribute to reporting efforts
- Proven ability to build relationships with partners, schools, and community organizations
- Adaptability and comfort working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Healthcare experience or background preferred, particularly in community health, public health, or healthcare workforce development
Applied Proficiencies:
Demonstrated experience and/or proficiency in:
- Program implementation and support within community, educational, or workforce settings
- Youth engagement, mentoring, and workforce development programming
- Training delivery, group facilitation, and skill-based instruction for diverse learner populations
- Youth-focused healthcare and safety instruction or willingness to be credentialed, including CPR and First Aid, Stop the Bleed, Narcan administration training, Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), basic vital sign assessment, etc.
- Community outreach, partnership development, and stakeholder engagement
- Public speaking, workshop facilitation, and representation of organizational programs
- Data tracking, reporting, and basic program evaluation support
- Marketing, promotion, and social media engagement for program outreach
Other Essential Functions of the Position:
- Ability to plan, organize, and meet deadlines independently
- Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Must have a valid NYS driver’s license and be able to travel extensively throughout Western New York for program delivery, training facilitation, and community engagement activities
