Staff Pharmacist

Chico, CA
Salary: $178,000 – $200,000 per year
Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent

Position Summary

The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care by utilizing clinical judgment, professional expertise, and medication distribution skills. This role focuses on identifying, resolving, and preventing medication-related issues while ensuring compliance with hospital policies and state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Review, verify, and dispense medications accurately and safely.
Monitor medication therapy and identify potential drug-related problems.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
Provide medication information and clinical recommendations.
Maintain compliance with pharmacy regulations, policies, and safety standards.
Respond effectively to emergency medication requests.
Support automated medication dispensing systems, including controlled substance management.
Promote quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.

Qualifications

Required

Current California Registered Pharmacist (RPh) license in good standing (or eligible upon acceptance).
Minimum 1 year of pharmacist experience.
Strong clinical judgment and communication skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with interdisciplinary teams.

Preferred

One year of inpatient hospital pharmacy experience.
Experience in decentralized hospital pharmacy practice.
Familiarity with pharmacy software and Windows-based systems.
Experience with automated medication dispensing systems (e.g., Pyxis).

Certifications

Current California Registered Pharmacist License
ACLS Certification (required within one year of hire)
PALS Certification (required within one year of hire)

Schedule

Full-Time
10-hour shifts
Rotating Days, Evenings, Nights, and Weekends
No fixed days off
