Job Summary: Callaway Nursing Home is seeking a compassionate and skilled Certified Medical Assistant to join our dedicated healthcare team in providing exceptional long-term care services to our residents. In this rewarding role, you will work closely with our nursing staff to ensure the health, comfort, and dignity of residents who call our facility home. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a genuine commitment to elderly care and possess the clinical skills necessary to support our comprehensive care approach.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: As a Certified Medical Assistant at our long-term care facility, you will play a vital role in the daily healthcare operations while building meaningful relationships with residents and their families. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting the nursing team with comprehensive patient care activities, ensuring that each resident receives personalized attention that meets their individual needs and care plan requirements.

You will be responsible for accurately obtaining and documenting vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respirations, while monitoring residents for any changes in their condition that may require immediate attention. Working under the supervision of registered nurses, you will assist with medication administration and help ensure that residents receive their prescribed treatments according to established schedules and protocols.

Documentation plays a crucial role in long-term care, and you will maintain detailed and accurate medical records, progress notes, and incident reports as required by facility policies and regulatory standards. Your observations and documentation will contribute to the ongoing assessment and care planning process for each resident.

The position involves providing hands-on assistance with activities of daily living, including helping residents with personal hygiene, mobility assistance, and maintaining their comfort and dignity throughout their daily routines. You will also perform various clinical procedures as directed by the nursing staff, always maintaining the highest standards of infection control and safety protocols to protect both residents and staff.

Qualifications and Requirements: Candidates must hold current certification as a Medical Assistant and possess a high school diploma or equivalent education. Current CPR certification is recommended, and previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly long-term care or geriatric care, is strongly preferred.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to interact compassionately with elderly residents who may be experiencing cognitive or physical challenges. A solid understanding of medical terminology and basic clinical procedures is essential, along with the physical stamina to work in an active healthcare environment that requires frequent standing, walking, lifting, and bending.
