Job Summary
An Agronomist Turf Specialist is responsible for the install, health, performance, and maintenance of turfgrass areas.
The role combines plant science, soil management, pest control, irrigation, and hands-on turf maintenance, leading and managing mowing, irrigating, fertilizing, aerating, seeding, pest control, and equipment operation.
Typical duties
- Maintain natural and sometimes synthetic turf.
- Diagnose turf disease, weeds, insects, and stress.
- Inspect irrigation systems and make minor repairs
- Monitor turf health, soil conditions, pests, and diseases.
- Plan and apply fertilization, irrigation, seeding, aeration, and other cultural practices.
- Diagnose turf problems and recommend treatment plans.
- Oversee fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides applications safely and keep records.
- Help maintain grounds equipment and coordinate field or course conditioning.
- Keep records of treatments, schedules, and work completed.
Qualifications
- Ideal candidate will have minimum 5-7 years of experience in green industry, grounds maintenance, or turf management of luxury resorts or golf courses
- Experience in turf management, agronomy, horticulture, or grounds maintenance.
- Knowledge of turfgrass science, soil fertility, and pest management.
- Pesticide applicator certification is often required or preferred.
- Knowledge of turfgrass practices and landscape equipment.
- Ability to work outdoors, lift, and perform physical labor.
- A valid driver’s license is often required.
- Pesticide or fertilizer applicator licensing may be required or preferred.

Salary: $90,000/yr DOE
