Job Title: Engineering Manager

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Overview:
Our company is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager with extensive experience in CNC programming, particularly for CNC mills and lathes, and expertise in Mastercam. Reporting to our General Manager, this individual will support our engineering team in Phoenix, AZ to develop and introduce new product, drive process efficiency, manage cost estimation, provide training and development to the engineering team, and foster continuous improvement within our organization. Our team is agile yet ambitious, and we aim to deliver high-precision, high-quality components to our growing aerospace and defense clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Development:
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of CNC programmers and engineers, providing hands-on support and strategic direction.
Design and implement training programs for CNC programming and engineering staff to ensure skill enhancement and alignment with industry best practices.
CNC Programming Expertise:
Oversee and support CNC programming for mills and lathes, ensuring efficient and accurate production.
Provide hands-on guidance with Mastercam programming to optimize machining processes, reduce cycle times, and enhance product quality.
Cost Estimation:
Lead cost estimation efforts, utilizing engineering data and project scope to accurately forecast expenses and pricing.
Collaborate with sales and finance teams to ensure cost estimates are in line with profitability goals and client expectations.
New Product Introduction (NPI):
Drive the engineering aspects of New Product Introduction, ensuring smooth transition from concept to production.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement NPI processes that meet client specifications and adhere to timeline requirements.
Process Development and Productivity Improvements:
Lead initiatives to improve process efficiency, productivity, and quality across all production lines.
Implement lean manufacturing principles to streamline workflows, reduce waste, and maximize throughput.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
Ensure all engineering activities comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements, with a focus on aerospace-specific quality measures.
Collaborate with quality assurance teams to monitor, analyze, and improve product quality.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience in CNC programming with a strong focus on CNC mills and lathes, preferably within the aerospace and defense sector.
Proficiency in Mastercam and a deep understanding of CNC machine operations.
Experience with EDM, Swiss Machining, Water Jet, Welding, Heat Treat, and Brazing would be beneficial.
Demonstrated experience in cost estimating, New Product Introduction, and process optimization.
Proven leadership skills with experience managing and developing engineering teams.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Travel / Ability to Commute:

This position is on site (not remote) and will be based out of our Phoenix, AZ 85043 location. Travel will be required as needed to provide support to all operating companies within our group. Estimated travel will be up to 20% depending on need.
