Job Title: Category Advisor – eCommerce (Walmart)
Location: Bentonville, AR
Department: Sales
Reports To: VP Category Advisory

Role Overview

We are seeking a Category Advisor – eCommerce to support Walmart’s eCommerce merchant organization by providing insights, planning support, and executional coordination for their online business. This role serves as a trusted advisor and liaison, helping Walmart optimize category performance through data-driven insights, promotional analytics, and strong cross-functional collaboration.

The role is a hybrid category-advisory, marketing-focused position, requiring a deep understanding of eCommerce dynamics, promotional effectiveness, and digital merchandising, while partnering closely with Walmart merchants and internal and external stakeholders to ensure Walmart is positioned to win in eCommerce.

Key Responsibilities

Walmart eCommerce Category Advisory

Act as a strategic advisor to Walmart eCommerce merchants, providing market, performance, and promotional insights to inform category planning.
Support planning across new releases, pre-orders, and ongoing catalog performance, with a focus on maintaining overall category and library health.
Identify trends, risks, and opportunities within the competitive eCommerce landscape.

Promotional Analytics & Coordination

Provide market pricing and promotion analytics to support Walmart’s internal pricing and promotional decision-making.
Assist Walmart in managing promotional solicitations for Walmart.com, helping organize inputs, timelines, and performance expectations across participating partners.
Evaluate promotional effectiveness and share insights to support future planning.

Pre-Order & Lifecycle Support

Support pre-order strategy through analytics, forecasting inputs, and executional readiness, including item setup, visibility, and early performance tracking.
Monitor lifecycle performance to ensure sustained availability and healthy long-term results across the catalog.

Cross-Functional Liaison & Collaboration

Serve as a primary liaison between Walmart merchants and key internal and external constituents, including studios, sales, marketing, and operations teams.
Help streamline communication and reduce administrative friction for Walmart by coordinating inputs and ensuring clarity across partners.
Support alignment between Walmart priorities and partner execution.

Performance & Insights

Analyze sales, traffic, conversion, promotional, and competitive data to develop clear, actionable insights.
Translate complex data into concise recommendations that are relevant and usable for Walmart merchants.
Track performance trends and support ongoing category reviews and planning discussions.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in eCommerce, category advisory, retail marketing, merchandising analytics, or supplier/agency roles.
Strong understanding of Walmart eCommerce or comparable large-scale online retail platforms.
Experience supporting or working alongside retail merchants and cross-functional stakeholders.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate insights clearly and credibly.
Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple inputs and timelines.
Strong relationship management and stakeholder communication skills.

Preferred Experience

Prior experience working with Walmart (supplier, agency, or internal).
Experience with promotional planning, promotional analytics, or retail media performance analysis.
Familiarity with pre-order execution, item setup, and digital shelf best practices.
Background in roles requiring frequent collaboration with retail merchants and senior stakeholders.
