Full Job Description

Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Deputy Circuit Clerk to join our team. In this vital role, you will assist in managing Criminal, Civil, Domestic, Juvenile and additional court records, facilitating case processing, and supporting the administrative functions of the court system. Your energetic approach and strong organizational skills will ensure smooth courtroom operations, accurate record-keeping, and excellent customer service for all visitors and legal professionals. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the justice system while developing your legal administrative expertise. Must pass a drug test.

Duties

Assist in maintaining and organizing court records, files, and case documentation with precision and efficiency
Support the filing of legal documents, motions, and correspondence in accordance with court procedures
Conduct case audit reviews related to case filings, legal procedures, and relevant statutes to support judicial processes
Enter data accurately into court management systems, ensuring all information is current and properly filed
Provide exceptional customer service by answering inquiries from attorneys, litigants, and the public both in person and via phone or email but do not give legal advice
Manage filing systems, including electronic and paper files, ensuring easy retrieval and compliance with record retention policies
Handle clerical tasks such as, processing payments (including cash handling), indexing documents being filed, and maintaining the organization of court records while multitasking with the phone and customers coming in office

Skills

Fast and proficient learner that can work independently but also as a team
Court Clerk experience is highly desirable for understanding courtroom procedures and legal terminology but not mandatory
Proficiency in excel, word processing software, and office management tools
Extensive office experience with a focus on legal administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and clerical support
Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Customer service experience to effectively assist visitors and legal professionals with professionalism and courtesy
Attention to detail for accurate record keeping, data entry, and document processing
Basic cash handling skills for processing payments related to court fees
