The Pharmacy Specialist will serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team representing UAMS Specialty Pharmacy Services. The specialist will provide pharmacy services with a focus on safety, efficacy, and positive outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Graduate of an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy or BS Pharmacy Degree
· PGY1 Residency Training OR 3 years of applicable experience
· Licensed by the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacist or eligible for licensure
Preferred Qualifications
· Doctorate of Pharmacy
· Board certified in applicable area
· Experience with retail pharmacy, neurology/headache medications, specialty pharmacy, or ambulatory care
Additional Information:
Responsibilities:
Reviews and interprets prescriber's orders and detects appropriateness of therapy; prepares and dispenses medications.
Prepares sterile admixtures using proper aseptic technique.
Prepares chemotherapy according to departmental policies and procedures. Answers client questions regarding prescription renewal, dosage, and side effects.
Serves as a primary or co-preceptor for rotational students; provides formal, in-depth training of students and new staff.
Assists with the development of educational materials and in-services for staff development.
Directs, advises, and instructs staff in assigned areas in all activities about job duties and functions.
Assists leadership in all aspects of pharmacy operations in the area of assigned responsibility.
Serves as a liaison between the pharmacy service line and the assigned practice area.
Promotes a safe working environment by adhering to the UAMS patient safety plan.
Ensures equipment and facilities are used, calibrated, and maintained properly.
May perform other duties as assigned.
