About us

Cornea Consultants of Texas is a private practice, specializing in ophthalmology. We have locations near Downtown Fort Worth, North Arlington and North Plano. We are looking for a candidate that is a team player and has a, go above and beyond attitude for patients and coworkers. If providing that level of service and care excites you then we want you on our team.

This position will require managing referrals, pre/prior authorizations, as well as answering calls, emails and at times front desk duties. We're looking for an organized and detail-oriented individual who is comfortable multi-tasking and managing a variety of tasks. The successful candidate will be capable of working in an ever-changing environment and have experience using multiple computer programs while maintaining confidentiality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Incoming/Outbound calls
Maintain ongoing tracking and appropriate documentation on referrals.
Contact insurance companies for prior approval for in office procedures/outpatient surgery.
Be the navigator and point of contact for PCP, patients, and their families regarding their referrals.
Send all medical records requests from patients, doctors office, and insurance companies.
Be flexible, organized, and function under stressful situations.
Follow and adhere to CCT policies.
Other responsibilities as defined by the supervisor.
Obtains necessary pre-authorizations from payer.
Communicates with physician/clinical staff any pre-certification or PA requirements by the patient’s insurance carriers.
Ensures up-to-date documentation on patient’s account in Electronic Medical Record related to authorization approvals and denials.
Maintains updated referrals and authorizations.
Communicates with ordering physician in the case of denials that will require rescheduling and/or peer-to-peer review by the ordering physician.
Assist at front desk check in/check out when needed

KNOWLEDGE /SKILLS REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS POSITION:

Previous experience in pre-authorization/pre-certification and insurance referrals
Knowledge of insurance and third party payers
Previous experience with CPT and ICD-10 coding
Previous NextGen use a plus, but not a requirement
Knowledge of Electronic Health Record System preferred; Basic computer skills
Must be attentive to detail, cooperative, punctual, dependable, and be receptive to new ideas
Takes initiative to affect positive outcomes
Strong customer service focus
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Teamwork oriented
Organized and able to manage competing priorities
Resourcefulness in problem solving and good judgment
Able to take and follow through with delegated tasks and accountability
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations

Ability to work with diverse populations
Flexibility with schedule

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
