Full Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will oversee a broad range of accounting functions, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and internal policies. This role is vital in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting budgeting and reporting processes, and ensuring the integrity of financial data across various accounting systems. The ideal applicant will possess strong technical accounting skills, familiarity with industry-standard software, and a commitment to confidentiality and accuracy in handling sensitive information.

Responsibilities

Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliation to ensure financial accuracy.
Perform accounts payable and accounts receivable management, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and collections.
Reconcile accounts receivable and payable ledgers regularly to identify discrepancies and resolve issues efficiently.
Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and assist with month-end closing procedures.
Utilize various financial software such as Workday, Paychex, QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, and UltiPro for data entry and reporting.
Conduct detailed Excel data analysis for budgeting, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
Handle confidential information with integrity while ensuring compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls.
Support internal audits by preparing documentation related to account reconciliations and financial transactions.
Assist in implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency within the accounting department.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate recording of financial transactions and adherence to company policies.

Experience

Minimum of three years of professional experience in corporate accounting or governmental accounting roles.
Proven expertise in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, or equivalent systems.
Strong understanding of GAAP standards and technical accounting principles.
Experience working with financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, account reconciliation, and balance sheet management.
Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements and internal control procedures.
Demonstrated ability in Excel data analysis, spreadsheets management, and bookkeeping tasks.
Background in public accounting or non-profit accounting is advantageous but not mandatory.
Excellent numeracy skills combined with attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Strong communication skills for effective customer service and team collaboration.
