Full Job Description

General Description:

Under the direction of the CFO, the Senior Director of ReStores is a Servant Leader. He or she serves as the leader of the ReStore Team and is a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Agency Leadership Team (ALT). Broadly speaking, he or she is responsible for all aspects of ReStore Operations, which include providing strategic and operational leadership, including budget creation and adherence and net store revenue for the ReStores.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Great candidates will have:

Minimum of 10 years of progressive retail management experience.
Experience with retail point-of-sale systems, inventory systems, and financial reporting tools; experience with ThriftCart preferred.
Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, margin analysis, and financial reporting.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of retail inventory management, internal controls, merchandising, and pricing strategies.
Strong knowledge of building materials
Experience leading large teams and developing high-performing management staff.
Exceptional leadership, coaching, and personnel development abilities.
Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
Must be able to meet the physical requirements of a multi-site retail operation, including lifting and moving merchandise, operating forklifts and vehicles, climbing ladders, and supporting warehouse and store activities.

Job Conditions…

Position is full-time (40 hours a week) and works Monday through Friday. Office hours are flexible. Evening and weekend work is required. It is an exempt position. Conditions and benefits are contained in the board-approved .

General Responsibilities…

8. Wholly manage an agency subprogram – ReStore Operations.

10. Management Philosophy & System:

a. Deploy Gung Ho management principles and practices. Read the book Gung Ho by Ken Blanchard

b. Utilize the Traction EOS management system. Read a summary of the book Traction by Gino Wickman.

11. Program budget creation and adherence (if applicable).

12. Assist the agency in the creation and operation of checks/balances to ensure system-wide integrity. Think in terms of fraud and theft . We guard against inherent opportunities, not individuals.

13. Learn from your peers - create and maintain relationships with Habitat for Humanity International and other Habitat affiliates.

14. Independently represent the agency outside of the office/warehouse/store.

15. The position has the authority to temporarily deviate from the agency's standard operating procedures when within the context of our Core Values and as may be wise depending upon the circumstances.

16. Are members of the AgencyLeadershipTeam (ALT).

17. Independently carry out/resolve major projects, complaints, and other matters of significance.

18. Have authority to affect, interpret, and implement management policies or operating practices.

19. Interact with the Board of Directors.

Specific Responsibilities:

1. Provide strategic leadership for all ReStore operations, developing and executing plans that drive revenue growth, profitability, operational excellence, and community impact.

2. Lead multi-location retail operations, ensuring consistent standards, efficient processes, strong merchandising, and exceptional customer experience.

3. Oversee financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, KPI management, and reporting, while maintaining accountability for sales, margins, and profitability.

4. Direct inventory, merchandising, and donation management strategies to maximize retail sales and net profitability including unrelated business income tax liabilities.

5. Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, excellent customer service, and employee engagement.

6. Ensure strong internal controls and operational processes are established and consistently followed to proactively address safety and other risk management areas.

7. Utilize performance metrics and data-driven insights to optimize operational results and support strategic decision-making, aligning ReStore initiatives with organizational priorities and long-term growth plans.
