About Us
Kanner Engineering LLC is a growing structural engineering firm specializing in the design and evaluation of residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings throughout New Jersey and surrounding states. We provide practical and economical structural solutions using wood, steel, concrete, masonry, and cold-formed steel construction.
We are seeking a motivated Junior Structural Engineer to join our team and work directly with licensed Professional Engineers on a variety of design and field projects.
Responsibilities
- Prepare structural calculations and construction documents for building projects.
- Assist with the design of wood, steel, concrete, masonry, and cold-formed steel structures.
- Produce and revise drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, and other consultants.
- Review shop drawings and RFIs.
- Perform site visits, field observations, and structural assessments at project locations throughout New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Field work and travel are integral components of this position.
- Prepare engineering reports, letters, and technical documentation.
- Interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Assist with construction administration and respond to field questions.
- Work closely with senior engineers and gain exposure to project management and client interaction.
Qualifications Required
- B.S. in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering.
- EIT certification (or ability to obtain within one year).
- 0–3 years of structural engineering experience.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred
- Experience with Revit.
- Experience with RAM Structural Systems, Enercalc, or similar structural analysis software.
- Knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, and NDS.
- Internship or co-op experience in structural engineering.
