Full Job Description

Diagnostic Radiology & Imaging, LLC - EOE AA M/F/Vet/Disability Employer

Position: Ultrasound Technologist. RDMS Required. Sonographer with skills in General US (required), RVT (Preferred)
Status -Part-time/Non-exempt/hourly.
Work location: This position will float between 3 of our sites (2 in Greensboro, NC, and 1 in Burlington, NC)
Work Schedule: Working three shifts per week (9-hour shifts) Monday - Friday. With the ability to pick up additional shifts.

Description

The Sonographer provides quality care to patients undergoing Ultrasound procedures. Demonstrates full knowledge of Ultrasound procedures and equipment. The sonographer must be able to perform general ultrasound. RVT certification in additional to general US is highly preferred. Should be able to interpret sonograms accurately and provide an excellent level of patient care.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Facilitate the patient’s experience by greeting patients, explaining pre- and post-procedure instructions, and verifying the patient’s identity. Utilize AIDET Principles in all patient and provider encounters.

· Perform ultrasound exams using proper protocols and positioning techniques, transporting patients safely, verifying the accuracy of orders, and documenting patient information.

· Performing sonographic examinations on patients to develop vascular images.

· Generating analytical reports and documentation from sonogram results.

· Document the patient’s exam through data entry, report retrieval, scanning, and recording the exam details in the electronic medical record system.

· May be required to conduct environmental and safety procedures including cleaning and sterilizing the exam room and equipment. Evaluate and maintain supply levels and practice safe patient maneuvers.

· May use high-frequency sound waves to generate images of patients' blood vessels. They ensure that patients are prepped for examinations, perform ultrasound scans, and analyze the sonograms for diagnostic purposes.

· Maintain professional and technical knowledge and licensure through educational workshops, professional publications, and societies.

Additional Duties as assigned.

Qualifications

o Education: Associate degree or Graduate of Radiology, Imaging or related educational program in Ultrasound Technology or Sonography

o Experience: 1 to 2 years of experience working in general ultrasound as an ultrasound technologist (Required) 1-2 years experience in Vascular Ultrasound (RVT) is highly preferred. Experience with carotid, abdominal aorta, visceral, renal artery, lower & upper extremity arterial, venous insufficiency exams, hemodialysis imaging and ABIs is preferred.

o Knowledge: Consistently model AIDET principles, service excellence and service recovery. Consistently demonstrate commitment to safe practices while abiding by all OSHA and HIPAA guidelines. Have sound knowledge of human anatomy and safety procedures. Outstanding technologists will be highly analytical and able to explain complex information clearly. Excellent knowledge of sonography technology such as plethysmographs and ultrasound equipment. Familiarity with patient medical software such as EPIC. Excellent diagnostic and interpretive abilities. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to provide an excellent level of patient care.

o Skills: Basic computer skills including Email and the ability to comprehend and utilize Electronic Medical Record Systems and PACS Systems. Use of Ultrasound equipment, disinfection unit, and general office equipment.

o Licensure/Certification: Board Certified in Ultrasound Technology or Sonography; active member in good standing with RDMS (required). Additional RVT credentials such as registered vascular technologist/RVT preferred.

o Physical Requirements: Frequent walking, standing, squatting, carrying, pushing or pulling. Must be able to stand, stoop, lift, and walk without restrictions. Requires the physical ability to stand and walk throughout the day and help lift and move patients. Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

o Conditions of employment: This role works onsite. BLS Certification, Compliance with OSHA and HIPAA guidelines, wear all required Personal Protective Equipment. Adherence to the Mission, Vision, and Values of DRI and professional representation of DRI.
