Job Title: Residential Safety Advisor
Reports to: Safety Manager
The Organization:
Homeward Bound is the leading nonprofit organization in Buncombe County focused on preventing and ending homelessness using the best practice Housing First model. We work collaboratively with community partners and have a proven track record of helping individuals and families achieve housing stability. Since 2006, Homeward Bound has moved more than 2,700+ people off the streets, out of cars, camps, and shelters and into permanent housing.
Overview:
Compass Point Village is a Homeward Bound owned property that has been converted into a Permanent Support Housing Complex located on Tunnel Rd. The purpose of the Resident Safety Advisor (RSA) will be to keep the property safe and clear of trespassing during all hours of operation. The Resident Safety Advisor may be trained at other locations to work as PRN. The RSA is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and supportive environment for clients, visitors, and staff. RSA staff rotate among three primary safety stations and must be trained and prepared to perform responsibilities at any station during a shift.
Schedule and compensation: This is a part-time, second shift hourly position on Saturdays and Sundays. Compensation is $23.15 an hour
For safety we maintain a minimum of 2 RSA’S per shift required and maximum of 3.

Must attend and successfully complete certification in CPR/AED, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens training. Training and certification will be provided by Homeward Bound as a condition of employment.

Ability to effectively communicate with both clients and peers from diverse backgrounds while maintaining professionalism, empathy, and respect.

Strong attention to detail and ability to remain alert, oriented and observant throughout your shift.

Basic proficiency with computers and software systems including Microsoft Office, Box, Gmail,G-Suite and surveillance/security systems.

Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Poised and decisive while contacting and coordinating with emergency services (EMS, law enforcement, fire department, etc.) during emergencies.

Ability to bend, twist, kneel, crouch, and move throughout the property for extended periods.

Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 25 pounds.

Ability to physically perform CPR and emergency response duties, including kneeling and remaining active during emergency situations.

Ability to react quickly and effectively during emergencies and crisis situations.

Monitor entry and exit activity for clients, visitors, and staff.

Verify identification and accurately check individuals in and out of the facility.

Maintain detailed and accurate log books and records while paying close attention to small details and discrepancies.

Serve as the first point of contact while maintaining situational awareness and responding appropriately to emerging concerns.

During emergencies, remain attentive and communicate effectively with EMS and emergency personnel while maintaining control of the front desk area.

Maintain a clean and trash free property while on shift.

Maintain a clean work environment at the assigned stations.

Monitor multiple properties simultaneously through a surveillance system consisting of 95+ cameras.

Maintain a high level of awareness and attentiveness while identifying safety concerns, unusual activity, or potential security issues.

Observe and document incidents or concerns and communicate findings appropriately.

Maintain strong attention to detail while monitoring multiple environments at once.
Property Safety and Client Support Operations

Conduct routine safety rounds throughout assigned properties to identify hazards and maintain a secure environment.

Ensure the safety and security of exterior grounds, gates, common spaces, offices, and client areas.

Provide support during meal service and assist with maintaining orderly community spaces when operational needs allow.

Address immediate safety concerns and assist with maintaining a welcoming environment for clients and staff.

Follow the schedule for locking and unlocking doors in community spaces.
Emergency Response

Utilize CPR, First Aid, and Narcan training when responding to medical or emergency situations.

Quickly assess emergency situations and respond appropriately according to established procedures.

Contact emergency services when necessary and provide clear, accurate information.

Complete all required activity logs, incident reports, and documentation before the end of each shift.
