Title: LEAD Youth Facilitator & Coordinator (Contractor)
Position Status: Part-Time Independent Contractor (Flexible hours per week)
Reports to: Prevention Director.
Compensation: $25/hour, with a maximum project budget of $8,000. The project is expected to require approximately 320 hours total, averaging about 10 hours per week during the contract period (June 2026 – January 2027).
Work Location: Hybrid position including remote work, community outreach, and in-person meetings/trainings as needed.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Join the dynamic team at Our Voice, Buncombe County’s rape crisis and prevention center, supporting people in our community ages 13+ who have been impacted by sexual violence and/or human trafficking. Our program serves sexual violence survivors in Buncombe County, and human trafficking survivors in Buncombe, McDowell, and Transylvania counties.
The LEAD Youth Facilitator & Coordinator will support the implementation and facilitation of the LEAD Youth Task Force, a youth prevention and leadership initiative focused on preventing sexual violence through education, advocacy, leadership development, and community engagement. This contractor role will focus on youth outreach and recruitment, facilitation of meetings and prevention education sessions, and supporting youth-led prevention initiatives in collaboration with Our Voice prevention staff and community partners.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Previous experience in outreach, youth and young adults engagement, facilitation, teaching, or community organizing
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with people experiencing trauma, external community partners, and across lines of difference
- Knowledge of sexual violence and human trafficking related issues and their systemic root causes and intersections
- Considerable knowledge of community resources and structures
- Adaptability to and understanding of local community needs and systems
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and collaboration; ability to maintain workload and work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work in school/college schedule
- Reliable transportation to carry out job responsibilities
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting platforms
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ties to the local community preferred, but not required
- Experience with collecting, monitoring, and evaluating data preferred, but not required
- Knowledge of Popular Education principles preferred, but not required
- Bilingual Spanish and English preferred, but not required

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complete onboarding and training related to Prevention work in Our Voice and youth prevention programs, including Consent is Everything and Shifting Boundaries (Please check our website to learn more about of these programs)
- Prepare for, attend, and participate in supervisory meetings
- Work flexibly with the agency schedule and prioritize tasks appropriately
- Maintain a solution-focused demeanor while working in unpredictable environments and high-stress situations
- Adhere to the values and policies of Our Voice by complying with all written procedures and policies and embodying the organization’s core values
- Maintain appropriate boundaries and open, clear, and respectful communication with staff, youth participants, and community partners
- PREVENTION EDUCATION & LEAD YOUTH TASK FORCE RESPONSIBILITIES RECRUITMENT & OUTREACH
- Collaborate with the Director of Prevention to design and implement a recruitment plan for LEAD youth participants (high school- or college-age youth).
- Promote the LEAD program throughout the community through outreach, networking, and community engagement efforts
- Conduct outreach to schools, youth-serving organizations, and community partners to increase participation
- Develop and distribute recruitment materials and interest forms
- Collect and organize participant applications and interest inquiries
- SELECTION & INTERVIEW PROCESS
- Contribute to the development of participant application and interview questions aligned with LEAD values and prevention goals.
- Conduct interviews with interested youth participants
- Support onboarding of participants for the LEAD Youth Task Force
- Communicate participation expectations and program commitment requirements
- YOUTH TASK FORCE SUPPORT & FACILITATION
- Assist with building and maintaining the LEAD Youth Task Force cohort
- Facilitate orientation and introductory meetings
- Support the creation of group agreements, leadership opportunities, and committee structure
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive youth-led environment
- Facilitate a minimum of ten (12) LEAD meetings between August–December
- Coordinate and lead in-person and/or virtual meetings as needed
- Utilize youth engagement and Popular Education approaches during meetings and activities
- CURRICULUM FACILITATION
- Prepare and facilitate a minimum of eight (8-10) youth-focused educational sessions
- Facilitate sessions focused on our youth programs, prevention of sexual violence, leadership development, advocacy, community engagement, and project management
- Adapt youth curriculum and activities to meet the needs of high school or college-age participants
- Coordinate with partner facilitators when applicable
- YOUTH LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT & ACTION PROJECTS
- Support youth participants in developing leadership, communication, and advocacy skills
- Encourage collaboration, teamwork, and community engagement
- Support youth participants in identifying and developing prevention-focused projects
- Assist participants with planning, organizing, and implementing youth-led prevention initiatives
- Guide participants in setting goals, timelines, and action steps for projects
- CELEBRATION & PROGRAM WRAP-UP
- Support facilitation of final reflection and celebration activities
- Assist youth participants in presenting projects, outcomes, and lessons learned
- Facilitate evaluation and feedback activities related to the LEAD program
ADMINISTRATIVE & COMMUNICATION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work collaboratively with the Our Voice Prevention Director to support implementation of the LEAD Youth Task Force
- Maintain timely and professional communication with supervisor and team members
- Participate in regular check-in meetings with supervisor
- Track meetings, sessions, participant engagement, and program activities
- Complete additional prevention-related or youth engagement tasks as assigned by the agency
