About the Role
Product Engineer
At Blue Marble, we believe in the power of play to spark curiosity, creativity, and lifelong learning. We design innovative toys and experiences that inspire kids—and kids at heart—around the world.
We're seeking a creative and technically skilled Product Engineer to join our Industrial Design team. In this role, you'll bridge design, engineering, and manufacturing to transform innovative toy concepts into high-quality, production-ready products.
Working closely with Industrial Designers, Product Managers, overseas manufacturing partners, and Quality and Operations teams, you'll help ensure products meet safety, performance, quality, cost, and timeline goals while bringing great ideas to life. The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical aptitude, 3D CAD expertise, and a passion for creating engaging products that delight children and families.
If you love fast-paced environments, creative collaboration, and making an impact you can actually see on shelves (and in kids’ hands), you’ll fit right in.
What You’ll Do
Core Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Industrial Designers to translate product concepts into manufacturable engineering solutions.
- Develop detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, assemblies, and product specifications.
- Design plastic components, mechanisms, snap fits, hinges, battery compartments, gears, and other product features suitable for mass production.
- Evaluate product concepts for manufacturability, durability, cost, assembly efficiency, and consumer safety.
- Work closely with overseas manufacturing partners to optimize tooling, production methods, and product quality.
- Review tooling designs, mold flow analyses, and engineering samples, providing recommendations for improvements.
- Support prototype development using 3D printing, rapid prototyping, and other fabrication methods.
- Coordinate engineering changes throughout product development while maintaining documentation and revision control.
- Troubleshoot engineering, manufacturing, and quality issues during prototype and production phases.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and cross-functional product development meetings.
- Ensure compliance with applicable toy safety regulations and testing standards, including ASTM F963, CPSIA, EN71, and other international requirements.
- Partner with Quality Assurance to review testing results and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Conduct tolerance analyses, fit and function evaluations, and reliability assessments.
- Assist with product cost optimization through value engineering initiatives.
- Maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), engineering documentation, and product lifecycle records within company systems.
- Stay current on materials, manufacturing technologies, and engineering best practices relevant to toys and consumer products.
