Title: Location Quality Control Manager
Location: Thompson, OH
Job Summary: The Location Quality Control Manager is responsible for leading all quality assurance and quality control activities for precast and concrete manufacturing operations. This role ensures concrete products meet PCI, ACI, ASTM, regulatory, and customer specifications while supporting production efficiency, continuous improvement, and workplace safety. The Location Quality Control Manager supervises Quality Control staff, manages concrete mix designs, partners with production and engineering teams, and proactively identifies and resolves quality issues throughout the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Supervise, mentor, and train Quality Control Technicians to ensure consistent application of quality standards.
- Assign daily quality control responsibilities and monitor compliance with company, industry, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform and oversee quality inspections, testing, and monitoring throughout all stages of concrete production.
- Ensure compliance with PCI, ACI, ASTM, customer, and internal quality standards.
- Produce and evaluate concrete samples, test specimens, and mock-up panel castings as required.
- Oversee accelerated curing processes and evaluate concrete performance and laboratory test results.
- Collaborate with the Plant Foreman to coordinate production schedules and resolve quality-related issues.
- Partner with the Batch Plant Operator to manage concrete mix quantities, batching accuracy, and delivery timing.
- Communicate with engineers and project teams regarding shop drawings, specifications, mix designs, and technical requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize concrete mix designs to improve quality, efficiency, cost, and performance.
- Observe manufacturing processes including setup, casting, stripping, curing, and storage to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Troubleshoot product defects, implement corrective actions, and improve manufacturing quality outcomes.
- Prepare, maintain, and submit quality documentation, inspection records, test reports, and compliance records.
- Record inspection findings and provide data-driven recommendations to improve production quality.
- Maintain housekeeping and safety standards to ensure a clean, organized, and compliant manufacturing environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education & Preferred Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical training, college coursework, or an associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- Six to eight years of quality control experience required.
- Previous experience in concrete manufacturing, precast operations, or batch plant quality control required.
- Experience within the construction, building materials, or industrial manufacturing industry required.
- Proven ability to read and interpret shop drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- ACI Field Technician Level I certification required.
- PCI Level II certification required; PCI Level III certification preferred.
Physical & Mental Demands:
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and handling of materials, testing equipment, and concrete samples.
- Occasional climbing, kneeling, crawling, and lifting or moving materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to analyze test results, interpret technical data, and make sound quality decisions.
- Ability to follow detailed procedures, maintain accurate documentation, and communicate effectively with production teams and leadership.
- May require operation of testing equipment, laboratory tools, company vehicles, and plant machinery associated with quality control activities.
Work Environment:
- Work is performed in a combination of indoor manufacturing facilities and outdoor plant environments.
- Frequent exposure to concrete materials, moving machinery, industrial equipment, dust, noise, and changing weather conditions.
- Regular interaction with production, engineering, and quality teams to support manufacturing operations.
- Approximately 10% travel required for training, project support, or company business.
- Standard business hours with overtime as needed to support production schedules and operational demands.
