We are seeking a highly skilled SR Mechanical Designer to join our dynamic engineering team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for developing detailed mechanical designs, creating comprehensive schematics, and supporting system integration for complex projects. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in mechanical design, drafting, and system modeling, utilizing advanced CAD tools and adhering to industry standards such as ASME codes and GD&T principles. Your expertise will contribute significantly to the successful execution of engineering projects across construction, manufacturing, and system design domains.
Responsibilities
Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer with a strong background in industrial equipment and custom machinery design. This role is heavily focused on SolidWorks-based sheet metal and weldment design, with close collaboration alongside fabrication, assembly, and manufacturing teams to support prototype development and production improvements.
Candidates with HVAC mechanical system design experience are highly preferred. Military-specification experience is considered a plus, but a strong industrial equipment design background is the priority.
Must-Have Qualifications
-10+ years of mechanical design experience; Associate degree preferred
-Advanced SolidWorks experience (“SolidWorks guru” level)
-Strong background in sheet metal and weldment design
-Experience designing industrial equipment or custom machinery
-Hands-on mindset with the ability to work directly with fabrication, assembly, and manufacturing teams
-Comfortable troubleshooting prototype and production issues on the shop floor
-Strong understanding of manufacturability and design-for-assembly (DFA/DFM)
-Experience supporting custom fabricated equipment and production environments
Preferred Qualifications
-Experience designing mechanical components used in HVAC systems
-Familiarity with MIL-STD, MIL-DTL, or MIL-SPEC requirements
-Military or defense-related industry experience is helpful, but not required
Additional Notes
-Military experience is not required for this role
-Candidates will work under engineering oversight on specialized projects
-Strong industrial equipment and fabrication design experience is more important than defense industry background
