Full Job Description

CORPORATE CONTROLLER- Fleet Core, Inc.

Location: Denver, CO - Hybrid/Remote with periodic in person meetings

Start Date: Flexible

ABOUT FLEET CORE

Fleet Core is a Colorado-based fuel and specialty services company serving commercial, industrial, construction, transportation and government customers. We are committed to delivering exceptional customer service, operational excellence and innovative fuel management solutions. We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all company accounting and financial operations.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Controller is a critical leadership role responsible for the integrity of all financial reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls for the company. This individual will oversee the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, manage the monthly and annual close processes, and serve as the subject matter expert on NetSuite ERP. The ideal candidate brings experience in distribution or commodities accounting, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is comfortable working autonomously in a remote setting while collaborating cross-functionally with operations, sales, and executive leadership.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage all day-to-day accounting operations, oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and cash management.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Develop and maintain internal accounting controls and procedures
Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
Maintain fixed asset record and depreciation schedules
Coordinate all sales/use tax filings and coordinate with third party advisors as needed
Ensure compliance with federal and state fuel tax regulations, including IFTA reporting requirements as well as
Develop and present financial reports, KPIs and variance analysis to leadership tea, supporting strategic planning, acquisitions, and growth initiatives
Assist with banking relationships, treasury management and financing activities.
Oversee audits and other financial reviews as needed
Supervise and mentor accounting personnel and external accounting resources

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years of a Senior accounting or Controller leadership role
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
Advanced spreadsheet skills
Proven ability to manage month-end and year-end close processes in a fast paced environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Proficiency with NetSuite OneWorld or multi-entity accounting environments
Experience with mulit-entity accounting and real estate holdings
Experience in fuel distribution, petroleum, commodities, wholesale distribution or a related industry Experience supporting owner-operated or privately held businesses

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Colorado based, remote position with periodic occasional in-person meetings at company headquarters for audits, quarterly business reviews, or leadership offsites.
Standard business hours with occasional flexibility as needed
Reliable internet connection and dedicated workspace required.
