Full Job Description

A local FedEx Ground contractor is seeking an experienced FedEx Ground Business Contact (BC) Manager to lead operations of approximately 22-25 routes at the Athens, GA terminal. This role requires a daily presence at the terminal, where the BC Manager will maintain strong working relationships with FedEx Ground terminal staff and foster a positive working environment among the team of drivers. The ideal candidate must be a badged FedEx driver with prior BC experience, demonstrating expertise in DRO route planning and a strong work ethic. Excellent communication skills are essential for building team morale and retaining drivers, as well as motivating the team to meet operational metrics. The BC Manager will also need to possess problem-solving skills to make on-the-fly decisions and fill in various work areas as needed. The responsibilities of the BC Manager include creating and submitting an effective DRO plan each night, arriving at the terminal by 7:00 am daily, completing dispatch tasks, and working with the terminal on disputes and hand sheets. The manager will ensure that drivers complete pre- and post-trip inspections of their assigned trucks, attempt all deliveries, and code packages accordingly. Additionally, the BC Manager will assist drivers as needed, coordinate truck maintenance with mechanics, hold daily and weekly safety meetings, and oversee the training and onboarding of new drivers. Daily communication with the Area Operations (AO) is also a key part of the role. It is important for candidates to live within 30 minutes of the Athens terminal or be willing to relocate prior to starting the job. This position is not a standard Monday-Friday, 9 am-5 pm role; it will require long hours and weekend work as needed, although the manager will not be driving a truck every day.

Responsibilities

Create and submit an effective DRO plan each night
Arrive at the terminal no later than 7:00 am each day
Complete dispatch
Work with the terminal on disputes & hand sheets
Ensure drivers complete a pre- and post-trip inspection of assigned trucks
Ensure drivers complete all pick-ups daily
Ensure drivers attempt all deliveries each day
Ensure drivers code each package accordingly
Assist drivers as needed
Coordinate truck maintenance with mechanic
Conduct daily truck inspections and ensure every truck is always road ready
Maintain a clean, organized, top notch fleet
Hold daily and weekly safety meetings
Coordinate training & onboarding of new drivers
Communicate daily with AO and team

Requirements

Must be a badged FedEx driver with BC experience
Expertise in DRO route planning
Strong work ethic and excellent communication skills
Positive attitude to build team morale and retain drivers
Motivation to lead a team of drivers to meet metrics
Problem-solving skills to make on-the-fly decisions
Ability to fill in on any work area as needed
