Program Coordinator

Position Summary

St. Andrews Preschool is seeking an experienced, dependable, and professional Program Coordinator to serve on our leadership team. This position supports the Executive Director and Assistant Director in the daily operation of the preschool and school-age programs.

This is a hands-on leadership position. The Program Coordinator is expected to actively work alongside teaching staff, assist in classrooms when needed, supervise daily operations, and provide leadership and support to staff while ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the program.

The Program Coordinator serves as the on-site leadership representative during designated hours and is responsible for supporting staff, ensuring compliance with licensing regulations, maintaining program quality, assisting with staffing needs, and helping oversee daily operations. This position is ideal for an experienced childcare professional with a strong leadership background who is ready to help manage a growing program.

The Program Coordinator reports directly to the Executive Director and Assistant Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assist with the daily supervision and operation of preschool and school-age programs.
Provide leadership, support, and accountability to teaching staff throughout the day.
Monitor classroom ratios and ensure compliance with all Bright from the Start regulations.
Conduct classroom observations and provide coaching, guidance, and feedback to staff.
Assist with staff scheduling, classroom coverage, and break coverage as needed.
Support classroom management and assist staff with challenging behaviors.
Ensure children are actively supervised and engaged in developmentally appropriate activities.
Assist with maintaining a safe, clean, and organized environment throughout the school.
Support student arrivals, departures, transitions, afternoon activities, and after-school programming.
Address parent concerns professionally and direct issues to administration when appropriate.
Assist with incident reports, accident reports, and other required documentation.
Ensure center policies and procedures are consistently followed.
Assist with family events, special programs, field trips, and summer camp activities.
Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.
Perform additional duties assigned by the Executive Director or Assistant Director.

Leadership & Closing Responsibilities

Serve as the acting program leader during designated afternoon and closing hours.
Monitor enrollment counts and classroom ratios throughout the day.
Make staffing adjustments and authorize staff departures based on enrollment and operational needs.
Provide direct supervision, support, and accountability to teaching staff.
Ensure classrooms remain compliant with all licensing and safety regulations.
Assist in combining classrooms and managing staff coverage at the end of the day.
Support teachers with classroom management, transitions, and behavioral concerns.
Address parent concerns professionally and communicate significant issues to administration.
Ensure all closing duties are completed and the facility is secured at the end of each day.
Communicate operational concerns, incidents, and recommendations directly to the Executive Director and Assistant Director.
Serve as a positive role model and leader while maintaining a professional and supportive work environment.

Required Qualifications

Must be at least 21 years of age.
Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, Business Management, or a related field required.
Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, Business Management, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of four (4) years of supervisory, management, leadership, or program coordination experience required.
Demonstrated experience supervising staff, addressing performance concerns, maintaining accountability, and supporting team development.
Ability to independently supervise staff, make operational decisions, resolve conflicts professionally, and manage daily program operations with minimal supervision.
Strong knowledge of Georgia Bright from the Start licensing regulations preferred.
Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to effectively supervise multiple classrooms and staff members simultaneously.
Experience with Brightwheel or similar childcare management software preferred.
Must successfully pass all required criminal background checks.
CPR and First Aid Certification required within 45 days of employment.
Completion of all required state training requirements.

Schedule

Monday – Friday
12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Additional hours may be required for staff meetings, training, family events, special programs, and operational needs.

Physical Requirements

Ability to move throughout the facility and playground areas.
Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 40 pounds.
Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, and actively participate in classroom and outdoor activities as needed.
