Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Patient Services Specialist (Front Desk) to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and healthcare providers, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help streamline clinic operations, manage patient information securely, and support the delivery of exceptional care. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a patient-centered environment while utilizing your strong administrative and medical support skills.

Responsibilities

Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service while managing check-in and check-out procedures.
Schedule appointments efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth.
Verify patient insurance coverage, process payments, and handle medical collections with accuracy and professionalism.
Maintain and update patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinic policies.
Review documentation for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to clinical confidentiality policies.
Assist with medical billing processes, including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and Medicare claims submissions.
Manage phone communication with patients, providers, and insurance companies using proper phone etiquette and clear communication skills.
Support clinical staff by preparing care plans, reviewing medical records, and ensuring accurate documentation review.
Utilize computer skills to operate EMR/EHR systems like eClinicalWorks or Meditech efficiently.
Perform clerical tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and maintaining organized medical records.
Handle health information management tasks related to electronic health records (EHR) management and office administration.
Assist in clinic operations by managing medical scheduling, patient flow, and office supplies.

Experience

Prior clinic or healthcare front desk experience is highly preferred, especially within dental or medical offices.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, health insurance processes, and health information management systems such as Epic or Athenahealth.
Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems like eClinicalWorks or Meditech is desirable.
Demonstrated proficiency in medical coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and Medicare billing procedures.
Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly via phone and in person while maintaining professionalism at all times.
Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards and clinical confidentiality policies is essential.
Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) along with strong clerical skills such as filing and data entry are required.
Previous dental clinic experience or healthcare administrative support roles will be considered advantageous.
