About Alpha Engineering LLC

Alpha Engineering LLC is a growing engineering and design firm providing architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering services for commercial and construction projects.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Staff Accountant to support our daily accounting, project financial tracking, payroll coordination, and general business operations.

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounts payable and receivable, tracking project costs, preparing financial reports, and supporting management with day-to-day accounting activities.

The ideal candidate is organized, comfortable working with multiple projects at the same time, and experienced with QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

Maintain accurate accounting records in QuickBooks.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Prepare and send client invoices.
Track outstanding invoices and follow up on collections.
Record vendor and subcontractor invoices.
Process and track company expenses.
Reconcile bank and credit card accounts.
Track project revenue, expenses, and profitability.
Assist with job costing for engineering and construction-related projects.
Maintain records of client deposits and project payments.
Prepare monthly financial reports for management.
Assist with cash-flow tracking and forecasting.
Maintain vendor W-9s and assist with annual 1099 preparation.
Coordinate with the company’s CPA for tax filings and year-end accounting.
Maintain organized electronic accounting records and supporting documents.
Review expense reports and company credit card transactions.
Assist with insurance, business-license, and other administrative payment tracking.
Support management with other accounting and administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum 2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred.
Experience with QuickBooks Online strongly preferred.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation, and general ledger accounting.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to handle confidential financial information professionally.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in any of the following is a plus:

Bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese preferred.
Ability to communicate professionally with Chinese-speaking clients, vendors, and team members.
Engineering or architecture firms.
Construction companies.
Project-based accounting.
Job-cost accounting.
Construction subcontractor/vendor payments.
Payroll administration.
QuickBooks Online.
1099 and W-9 management.
Financial reporting and budgeting.

CPA certification is not required.

Compensation

Salary Range: $44,000 - $70,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
