· Current certification as an Orientation & Mobility Specialist (COMS) in GAGaPSC.

· Experience working with adolescents and young adult (preferably in a school setting, but we're open to all applicants).

Full job description

Collective Learning Academy (CLA), is seeking a compassionate and skilled Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist (COMS) to provide orientation and mobility services to adults and youth with low vision. This position is primarily based in a Buckhead private school and may include community-based visits as needed to support students goals.

The COMS will conduct assessments, develop individualized training plans, provide direct instruction, and collaborate with the CLA team to maximize students independence, safety, and quality of life.

· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Orientation and Mobility from an accredited college or university.

· Certification through the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation & Education Professionals (ACVREP) as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) required.

· Experience working with individuals who are blind or visually impaired across the lifespan preferred.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary team.

· Conduct orientation and mobility evaluations for young adults and youth with low vision.

· Develop individualized treatment plans and recommendations based on assessment findings.

· Provide orientation and mobility instruction in the school and in the community as needed.

· Instruct students in safe and effective travel techniques, environmental awareness, use of mobility devices, and navigation strategies.

· Evaluate and recommend mobility aids, assistive technology, and adaptive techniques to support students independence.

· Maintain timely and accurate documentation, including evaluations, daily treatment notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries.

· Assist in updating/maintaining the O&M curriculum and devices and making recommendations where necessary or needed.

· Ability to stand, walk, and travel with students for extended periods.

· Ability to navigate a variety of community environments, including sidewalks, public transportation, commercial areas, and residential settings.

· Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.

· Ability to demonstrate mobility techniques and safely support students during instruction.

· Flexible part-time schedule.

· Monday through Friday. No weekends
