Full Job Description

Job Description: Part-Time Surgical Technologist

We are a AAAASF-accredited Plastic Surgery Ambulatory Center located in the heart of Atlanta.
Due to continued growth, we are looking to add an experienced Surgical Technologist to our dedicated surgical team! Outstanding patient care and attention to detail are essential to our ideal candidate.

We are seeking someone with at least 1 year of Operating Room experience who is proactive, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

Support the surgical team throughout all phases of the procedure, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes.
Prepare the operating room for each case, ensuring that all equipment, instruments, and supplies are available, sterile, and functioning properly.
Assist the surgeon during procedures by anticipating needs and maintaining the sterile field.
Work collaboratively with nurses and anesthesia providers to provide excellent patient care.
Perform accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments before, during, and after procedures.
Maintain accurate documentation and assist in preparing for inspections and accreditation requirements.
Operate and maintain autoclaves and other sterilization equipment; perform biological and chemical monitoring to verify sterilization effectiveness.
Maintain proper documentation of sterilization cycles and equipment maintenance logs to meet AAAASF and regulatory standards.
Organize and restock sterile storage areas, ensuring instruments are properly labeled and ready for use.
Monitor stock levels and communicate inventory needs to the Materials Manager.
Participate in daily safety and emergency preparedness procedures, including crash cart checks.
Ensure adherence to Universal Precautions and infection control standards.
Identify and report damaged instruments or equipment for repair or replacement.
Adhere to infection control and safety standards at all times.
Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and room turnover between cases.
Provide assistance with administrative or clinical duties as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program (required).
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.
BLS certification required
Experience in Plastic Surgery a plus (training provided for the right candidate).
Prior experience in an Outpatient Surgery Center or Operating Room setting preferred.
Experience in Sterile Processing or Central Sterile Supply preferred.
Knowledge of sterilization techniques, instrument care, and infection prevention standards.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
High attention to detail and ability to maintain focus during complex procedures.
Compassionate, reliable, and patient-centered mindset.
