Behavioral Aide (Part-Time)

Organization: Apex Workforce & Talent Foundation (or client organization as designated)
Location: Fairburn, GA metro area (primarily community-based / client homes)
Employment Type: Part-Time
Reports To: Program Supervisor / Case Manager
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate (commensurate with experience)

Position Summary

The Behavioral Aide provides direct, hands-on support to children and youth in community and home settings. This role focuses on safe transportation to appointments, academic assistance, behavioral oversight, and consistent positive support that helps children succeed in daily routines and therapeutic goals. The position requires a reliable personal vehicle, valid driver’s license, and a calm, patient, professional demeanor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Safely transport assigned children to and from medical, therapeutic, educational, and other scheduled appointments using a personal vehicle.
Provide structured homework assistance and academic support, reinforcing positive study habits and age-appropriate independence.
Deliver consistent behavioral oversight and redirection using positive, strength-based techniques aligned with the child’s individualized support plan.
Maintain visual supervision and ensure a safe environment during all community outings, appointments, and in-home sessions.
Model appropriate social skills, emotional regulation, and problem-solving strategies.
Communicate clearly and professionally with parents/guardians, case managers, and service providers regarding the child’s progress, challenges, and any incidents.
Complete required documentation (daily notes, mileage logs, incident reports) accurately and in a timely manner.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all organizational policies, HIPAA, and child protection standards.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support the child’s overall plan of care.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in education, psychology, social work, child development, or a related field preferred.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Reliable personal vehicle with current auto insurance that meets or exceeds state minimum requirements (mileage reimbursement provided according to policy).
Ability to pass a criminal background check, including fingerprinting and child abuse registry clearances.
Demonstrated patience, reliability, and ability to work effectively with children who may present behavioral challenges.
Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
Availability for part-time, flexible scheduling that may include afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends based on client needs.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience working with children in educational, after-school, mentoring, residential, or behavioral health settings.
Experience supporting children with behavioral, emotional, developmental, or learning differences.
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Can work with nonverbal and verbal children.

Physical & Other Requirements

Ability to drive for extended periods and assist children in and out of the vehicle as needed.
Ability to sit, stand, walk, and engage in light physical activity associated with community outings and homework support.
Ability to respond calmly and effectively in situations involving behavioral escalation.
