Are you comfortable working part-time in a hotel banquet/event environment?
Do you have experience with banquet setup, event setup, hospitality, food & beverage, stewarding, janitorial, porter, or similar physical work?
Are you comfortable standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, and safely lifting up to 50 pounds during a shift?
Can you pass a 5-panel drug screen, criminal background check, and employment eligibility verification?

Banquet Houseperson

Pay Rate: $15.60 per hour
Location: Atlanta, GA 30339
Job Type: Part-time

Focus People is hiring a Banquet Houseperson for a hotel banquet and events role in the Cumberland Mall area of Atlanta.

This is a hands-on hospitality position supporting meetings, weddings, banquets, and special events. The Banquet Houseperson helps set up, break down, reset, clean, and organize event spaces so each function runs smoothly and guests have a great experience.

The right candidate will be dependable, detail-oriented, physically active, team-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced event environment.

Key Responsibilities

Set up banquet rooms according to event orders, room diagrams, and service standards.
Break down and reset banquet rooms after events.
Move and arrange tables, chairs, linens, equipment, and event supplies.
Maintain cleanliness of banquet rooms, storage areas, kitchens, service corridors, and event spaces.
Clean and properly store banquet equipment, including tables, chairs, linens, china, glassware, and silverware.
Assist banquet servers, food & beverage staff, and culinary team members before, during, and after events.
Remove trash, recyclables, and food waste.
Report damaged equipment, maintenance issues, or safety hazards to management.
Follow health, safety, sanitation, and hotel procedures.
Maintain a professional appearance and work cooperatively with the events team.
Support a positive guest experience through cleanliness, efficiency, and attention to detail.

Required Skills and Experience

Previous experience in banquet setup, event setup, hospitality, food & beverage, stewarding, janitorial, porter, or similar work preferred.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and organization.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, event-driven environment.
Ability to follow instructions, event diagrams, and established procedures.
Good teamwork and communication skills.
Professional attitude and appearance.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant experience accepted.
Knowledge of safety, sanitation, or food handling standards preferred.
Ability to obtain any required licenses or certifications, if applicable.
CPR and First Aid training preferred but not required.
Additional language skills are a plus.

Physical and Safety Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and use manual dexterity throughout the shift.
Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds when needed.
Must follow all safety rules, hotel procedures, and applicable safety requirements.
Must immediately report unsafe conditions, injuries, accidents, damaged equipment, or hazards to the appropriate supervisor.
This role does not include repetitive lifting over 50 pounds, elevated work, hazardous-material work, driving, or other duties outside the approved job description unless reviewed and approved in advance.

Schedule

This is a part-time, event-based role. Candidates should have flexible availability, including the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed based on event schedules.

Compliance and Screening

Candidates must successfully complete the following before assignment:

5-panel drug screen.
Criminal background check.
Employment eligibility verification, including I-9 and E-Verify.

Uniform / Dress Code

Candidates must provide and wear professional all-black attire unless otherwise instructed, including:

Black shirt.
Black pants or black khaki pants.

The client will provide any required name tag or badge.
