Fibrenew North Atlanta specializes in the repair, restoration, cleaning, and reupholstery of commercial, medical, automotive, and residential furniture and surfaces. Unlike traditional upholstery shops, we perform both repairs and complete reupholstery projects, creating a wide variety of unique work each week.
Our projects include restaurant booths, medical exam tables, waiting room furniture, automotive interiors, marine upholstery, commercial seating, vinyl and leather repairs, and custom upholstery work.
We are looking for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in craftsmanship, and wants to grow their upholstery skills in a fast-paced environment.
Position Summary
The Upholstery Technician will assist with all aspects of upholstery production and installation. This position is ideal for an experienced seamstress, sewer, upholsterer, or someone with industrial sewing experience who wants to expand into complete upholstery and restoration work.
The right candidate will be comfortable operating industrial sewing equipment, working with vinyl, leather, and fabric, and learning additional upholstery, repair, and installation techniques.
Responsibilities
- Operate industrial sewing machines (Juki walking-foot machines)
- Sew vinyl, leather, and fabric covers for commercial and automotive applications
- Remove and install upholstery on restaurant booths, medical tables, chairs, and other commercial furniture
- Install automotive seat covers, center console covers, armrests, and interior components
- Assist with foam replacement and cushion rebuilding
- Measure, cut, and pattern upholstery materials
- Perform furniture cleaning, conditioning, and restoration services
- Complete on-site service calls at customer locations
- Load, transport, and unload furniture and project materials
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment
- Document completed work with photos when required
- Deliver exceptional customer service while representing Fibrenew North Atlanta
Qualifications
Required:
- Experience sewing on industrial or heavy-duty sewing machines
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship
- Ability to lift and move furniture components and materials
- Reliable transportation
- Valid driver's license
- Clean driving record
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
Preferred:
- Upholstery experience
- Furniture reupholstery experience
- Automotive upholstery experience
- Marine or RV upholstery experience
- Patterning and cutting experience
- Foam fabrication experience
- Leather and vinyl repair experience
- Interest in learning color matching and repair techniques
