PCB Designer (High-Speed Digital, RF, and Analog)
Alpharetta, GA
Overview
We are a hardware product design and manufacturing company that has shipped 200+ products since 2010. We are looking for a motivated PCB Designer with 1 to 3 years of hands-on layout experience to join our engineering team. In this role you will own board layouts from schematic to fabrication-ready output, working closely with our electrical engineers on innovative products across the industrial, consumer, medical, and defense sectors. This is a great spot for someone early in their career who wants to grow fast on real shipping hardware that spans high-speed digital, RF, analog, and mixed-signal designs.
Responsibilities
- Create multilayer PCB layouts from schematic netlists, with controlled-impedance stackups and clean component placement that supports manufacturability and thermal performance.
- Work directly with electrical engineers to turn design requirements and constraints into manufacturable boards.
- Route high-speed digital interfaces (DDR, USB, Ethernet, PCIe, LVDS) with attention to length matching, differential pairs, return paths, and reference plane continuity.
- Apply good practice for RF and analog sections, including matched traces, grounding strategy, isolation, and low-noise power distribution.
- Handle BGA and fine-pitch fanout and escape routing, including FPGA and SoC packages.
- Generate and review complete fabrication and assembly documentation: Gerber or ODB++, drill files, fab drawings, assembly drawings, pick-and-place files, and bills of materials.
- Build and maintain library footprints and 3D models to IPC-7351, and keep design data and revisions well organized.
- Run DFM and DFA checks, coordinate with fab and assembly vendors, and resolve manufacturing feedback.
- Support signal integrity and power integrity reviews, and assist with bring-up and debug when boards come back.
Required Qualifications
- US citizenship is required for this role.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- 1 to 3 years of professional PCB layout experience.
- Proficiency in a professional PCB CAD tool such as Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro/OrCAD, Siemens Xpedition/PADS, or KiCad.
- Working knowledge of IPC standards, including IPC-2221, IPC-2152, IPC-7351, and IPC-A-610.
- Solid grasp of multilayer stackup design, controlled impedance, and basic signal integrity concepts.
- Comfort reading schematics and translating constraints into layout.
- Strong attention to detail and clear documentation habits.
Nice to Have
- High-speed design experience (DDR3/DDR4, multi-gigabit serial links).
- RF layout experience and familiarity with impedance matching and shielding.
- Low-noise analog and mixed-signal layout experience.
- FPGA-based board experience, including high pin-count BGA routing and pin-swap coordination.
- Familiarity with signal integrity tools such as HyperLynx or Ansys SIwave, and impedance tools such as Polar Si9000.
- Experience with rigid-flex or flex designs.
- Exposure to medical design controls (ISO 13485, IEC 60601) or defense program requirements.
- Exposure to EMC and pre-compliance considerations at the layout stage.
What You Will Work On
A mix of innovative products across the industrial, consumer, medical, and defense sectors, taking real boards from concept through fabrication and into production. You will see your work ship.
