Job Description:
MAG Masonry Promotion & Outreach Coordinator

Overview:

The MAG Masonry Promotion & Outreach Coordinator (herein "MPOC") will serve as the Masonry Association of Georgia industry's liaison with any and all masonry training and promotional programs in the state, serve as an liaison for secondary and post-secondary masonry programs and masonry instructors, and coordinate and implement MAG’s training and apprenticeship efforts, including MAG’s own masonry competitions and the masonry competitions of other organizations for which MAG is a participant. Additionally, the MPOC will seek additional opportunities to enhance masonry promotion opportunities throughout the state. The MPOC will report directly to the Executive Director and the President of the MAG.

Responsibilities:

v The MPOC will maintain a comprehensive database of Georgia vocational programs including secondary and post-secondary public education, correction facilities and masonry training cooperatives. The database will include complete contact information for instructors, Career and Technical Education (CTE) Directors, program administrators and other decision makers.

v The MPOC will develop a systematic plan for regular contact with all masonry vocational training programs in the state. Contact will consist of electronic communication, phone calls, and in-person visits; as well as collaborating with member firms for said contact.

v The MPOC will identify problems, challenges and opportunities within specific masonry training programs and coordinate local industry efforts and resources for addressing those issues.

v The MPOC will develop and implement industry training assistance for masonry instructors, especially instructors new to teaching. The MPOC will be made available to assist in creating new masonry training programs and classes, including assistance in identifying and selecting quantified instructor candidates.

v The MPOC will work with MAG contractor members to develop their own recruitment, training, and retention programs, especially with younger recruits and new hires. The MPOC will work to strengthen ties between local masonry classes and local masonry contractors who have the potential to benefit from successful local masonry training programs.

v The MPOC will be the Georgia masonry industry's primary liaison with both state and national SkillsUSA, with the Masonry Association of Georgia and with governmental agencies concerned with training and apprenticeship.

v The MPOC will work at MAG state Apprenticeship competitions.
v The MPOC will work closely with industry associations to work for the advancement of masonry workforce

develop initiative and strategies.
v The MPOC will work with industry association executives and committee chairmen to develop and

coordinate budgets for expenditures related to masonry training and competitions. This will include

solicitation for donations of money to cover expenses and prizes for contests.
v The MPOC will partner with the leadership of MAG in seeking and securing resources to provide ongoing

support for the work of the MPOC, and potential promotional programs.
v The MPOC will work with the MAG Apprenticeship & Training Committee to coordinate and execute any

and all competitions deemed beneficials and necessary to the masonry industry.

v The MPOC will participate in construction career fairs and other industry recruitment opportunities. The MPOC will develop recruitment promotional tools for use in such activities, including printed materials, video presentations, demonstrations, and slide-show presentations. The MPOC will coordinate the participation of masonry industry firms in career fairs and recruitment events.

v The MPOC will have prime responsibility for securing hosts, recruiting participants, and soliciting for donations of money and materials for MAG masonry competitions and for other competitions as approved by the MAG board.

v The MPOC will explore and develop means to expedite and improve judging at all Georgia masonry competitions.

v The MPOC will maintain a library of masonry competition drawings and encourage and develop fresh new supplies of project drawings. The MPOC will review and maintain scoring criteria for contests. The MPOC will coordinate with designated scorers for accurate and timely contest scoring.

v The MPOC will regularly attend local MAG meetings and provide programs for the meetings when invited to do so. The MPOC will attend and report at MAG board meetings

v The MPOC will maintain a personal business environment for office activities, coordinating with MAG administration for record keeping, activity reports, expense reimbursement and tracking, and other activities related to employment and executing the position of MPOC.

v The MPOC, in conjunction with industry partners, will participate in ceremonies such as Award Days, whereas program participants are recognized.

v The MPOC is expected to assist in developing marketing materials to address the promotional needs of the MAG member firms in general.

v The MPOC is expected to be a creative self-starter who will seek new and better ways to serve the masonry industry in regard to recruitment, training, apprenticeship, and promotional. Over a period, the MPOC should evolve and expand the position of MPOC based on personal experience, perception, resources, creativity, and social and economic conditions.

v The MPOC is expected to actively identify, implement, and maintain promotional initiatives and strategies to positively impact the MAG member firms and its participants.

v As directed by the MAG executive director, the MPOC will occasionally need to be available for MAG assignments other than those directly related to the training, apprenticeship and training aspect of MAG activities. (i.e. the annual golf tournament and annual convention)

Requirements:

v General knowledge of masonry systems
v Ability to create programming services that support workforce development strategic goals
v Knowledge of employment laws and regulations
v Strong interpersonal skills
v Strong verbal and written communication skills
v Ability to collaborate with industry partners on masonry promotional initiatives
v Spanish speaking is a plus
v Criminal background clearance
v Negative drug screening
v Clear driving record
v Ability to work independently, prioritize, organize, problem solve, and exercise good judgement.
v Skilled coordinating a variety of projects simultaneously
v Ability to demonstrate flexibility and creativity
v Have knowledge in networking and social media
v Working knowledge of MS Office Suite
v Able to work effectively under time pressure and/or deadlines
v Willingness to work flexible, varying hours, including evening and weekends as needed and occasional

travel and over night

Compensation

v Salary and Compensation package is commensurate with experience and qualifications
v The MPOC will, for the most part work independently of daily supervision but will report to the MAG Executive director and President. The Executive director and President will review activities, approve

expenses, to some extent, coordinate schedules and activities, and administer salary and benefits.
v The MPOC will be subject to annual review by the Executive Director and President and member(s) of the MAG leadership.
