About Prosperi

The student-to-counselor ratio in most schools is far too high, leaving counselors stretched thin and students without the support they need. Prosperi is closing that gap by bringing in experienced telecounselors who extend a school's counseling capacity beyond the walls of a single building or the hours of a single school day. We're also building AI-powered software to augment our telecounselors — handling the administrative and data work so they can spend more of their time where it matters most: with students. Our telecounselors provide dedicated academic, college, and career support, while a unified dashboard surfaces real-time, actionable insights that make counseling more proactive and student-centered. Everything we build is grounded in the ASCA National Model, fully FERPA-compliant, and designed to give every student more meaningful time with a counselor.

Position: Telecounselor / Professional School Counselor
Type: 1099 Independent Contractor
Location: Remote (IA)
Grade Levels: 9–12
Schedule: Flexible (during school day, typically between 10am-2pm)
Compensation: Based on experience (no benefits; contractor role)

Overview

Prosperi is hiring experienced School Counselors to provide virtual academic, college, and career counseling to high school students. This remote contract role offers flexibility and the opportunity to make a real impact through tech-enabled student support. Counselors will work closely with students, families, and school-based teams while upholding best practices aligned with the ASCA National Model.

Key Responsibilities

Provide individual student counseling focused on academic and postsecondary planning
Support with college applications, FAFSA, scholarships, and career exploration
Collaborate with school teams, families, and community partners
Maintain accurate and confidential digital records
Implement equitable, student-centered virtual counseling practices

Qualifications

Master's in School Counseling or related field
Valid School Counselor certification/license in IA
3+ years of school counseling experience (high school preferred)
Strong communication, tech skills, and comfort working remotely
Familiarity with graduation requirements and college/career readiness standards in respective state

Requirements

Reliable internet & private workspace
Flexibility to meet student/family scheduling needs
Background check and U.S. work authorization (1099)
Proof of liability insurance (upon offer)

Pay: $30.00 - $50.00 per hour
