Purpose of the job:
The Development & Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the organization's fundraising, grant development, donor stewardship, volunteer engagement, marketing, and community outreach efforts. Working under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, this position helps strengthen Concerned, Inc.'s financial sustainability and community presence by sharing the organization's story, cultivating relationships, coordinating philanthropic initiatives, and supporting resource development activities.
This position serves as a key ambassador for Concerned, Inc., building awareness of the organization's mission while creating meaningful opportunities for donors, volunteers, businesses, foundations, and community members to invest in empowering people to obtain their highest level of independence.

Duties and responsibilities:
Grant Development and Reporting
- Research and identify grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other funding sources.
- Coordinate the preparation, writing, submission, and tracking of grant applications in collaboration with the CEO and program leadership.
- Monitor grant reporting requirements and ensure timely compliance.
- Collect program data, success stories, and outcome measures to support grant applications and reports.
- Maintain an annual grants calendar and funding pipeline.
Fundraising and Philanthropy
- Coordinate annual fundraising campaigns, sponsorships, donor appeals, and giving initiatives.
- Assist the CEO in cultivating and stewarding relationships with individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
- Coordinate donor recognition and appreciation activities.
- Maintain accurate donor records and prepare gift acknowledgments.
- Assist in developing strategies to increase recurring giving, major gifts, and planned giving opportunities.
Marketing and Communications
- Coordinate the organization's marketing and communication efforts to increase community awareness and donor engagement.
- Develop content for newsletters, annual reports, brochures, email campaigns, and donor communications.
- Manage the organization's social media presence and website content.
- Gather stories, photographs, testimonials, and impact data that demonstrate the organization's mission and outcomes.
- Ensure consistent organizational branding across all communication platforms.
Community Engagement
- Build and maintain positive relationships with businesses, civic organizations, schools, churches, and community partners.
- Coordinate community presentations, tours, outreach events, and public awareness campaigns.
- Represent Concerned, Inc. at community events and networking opportunities.
- Develop partnerships that create volunteer, sponsorship, fundraising, and advocacy opportunities.
Volunteer Services
- Recruit, onboard, train, schedule, and recognize volunteers.
- Develop meaningful volunteer opportunities throughout the organization.
- Coordinate volunteer appreciation and recognition programs.
- Maintain volunteer records and participation data.
Events and Special Projects
- Coordinate fundraising events, donor appreciation activities, open houses, and community engagement events.
- Assist with planning and implementing organizational celebrations and awareness campaigns.
- Coordinate logistics, sponsorships, marketing, volunteers, and event communications.
Endowment and Legacy Giving Support
- Assist the CEO in promoting endowment growth and planned giving opportunities.
- Coordinate communications related to legacy giving and endowment initiatives.
- Maintain records associated with endowment donors and planned gifts.
Development Administration
- Maintain donor, volunteer, and development databases.
- Prepare monthly reports for the CEO and Board of Directors regarding fundraising, grants, volunteer engagement, marketing metrics, and community outreach activities.
- Track fundraising goals, campaign performance, grant activity, and community engagement metrics.
- Ensure confidentiality and proper stewardship of donor information.
Other Duties
- Promote a positive image of Concerned, Inc. throughout the community.
- Collaborate with all departments to highlight organizational successes and participant achievements.
- Support special projects assigned by the CEO.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, business, public administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Two or more years of experience in fundraising, grant writing, marketing, communications, nonprofit administration, or community relations.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Experience coordinating multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using CRM or donor management software.
- Must be willing to undergo a background check.
- Must have a valid state of Iowa drivers license.
Preferred
- Experience writing successful grant proposals.
- Experience managing social media and digital marketing.
- Experience coordinating fundraising events.
- Experience working in a nonprofit or human services organization.
- Experience with photography, graphic design, or content creation.

Fiscal responsibilities:
- Maintains an accurate timesheet and submit to the CEO on a timely basis.
Physical Demands:
1. Lifts 40 lbs.
2. Obtains a physical examination from a licensed physician upon offer of employment.
3. Manual dexterity to include, but not limited to, the following: stooping, bending, lifting, and carrying.
Evaluation:
The Development & Community Engagement Coordinator will be hired, supervised, evaluated, and terminated by the CEO. This employee shall be evaluated at 90 days and at one-year intervals thereafter.
Success in this position will be measured by:
- Growth in grant funding secured.

- Consistent communication through newsletters, social media, website updates, and annual reports.

· The Development & Community Engagement Coordinator advances Concerned, Inc.'s mission of empowering people to obtain their highest level of independence by connecting the community with opportunities to give, volunteer, advocate, and invest in services that enrich the lives of individuals with disabilities. Through effective storytelling, relationship-building, fundraising, and community engagement, this position helps ensure the long-term sustainability and impact of the organization.
Number of hours per week for this position are to be determined. Hours will typically be 8 am to 4 pm, with understanding hours will vary outside of this timeframe to accommodate to position.
