Job Summary:
This role is a contributing member of the leadership team, driving decision processes of the various business units in order to adequately anticipate technology resource needs, offer advice on technology-enabled opportunities, direct the development of new and innovative solutions, and respond to emergent requirements.
The Director of IT establishes San Francisco Bay Coffee’s technical vision and leads all aspects of San Francisco Bay Coffee technology development. This position is responsible for the organization’s total IT and operational technology (OT) footprint as it relates to strategy, architecture, policy, compliance, security, and risk management of IT-enabled functions - spanning enterprise applications, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, data governance, manufacturing systems, and analytics.
Responsibilities:
Strategy & Leadership
- Provide strategic and tactical planning, development, evaluation, and coordination of the information and technology systems for the organization. Research new solutions and technologies and implement changes
- Own the multi-year IT strategy and roadmap aligned to company growth, margin, service-level, and food-safety objectives
- Responsible for organizational direction and business unit strategies with regards to technology, digital commerce, and customer-facing systems
- Develop and monitor annual operating and capital budgets for information and technology systems
- Establish and chair IT governance covering intake, prioritization, architecture review, and change control
- Lead and develop the Information Technology team, including talent development, performance management, and succession planning
Data Governance, Analytics & Digital Transformation
- Develop and lead a company-wide data governance program to ensure data quality, consistency, security, accessibility, and accountability across the organization
- Develop a cohesive enterprise data ecosystem that consolidates information from manufacturing equipment, production systems, ERP platforms, and business applications into a centralized environment for analysis, regulatory compliance, reporting, and performance measurement
- Own enterprise data governance using Microsoft Purview, including data classification, sensitivity labeling, data loss prevention, retention, and cloud auditing
- Direct the Power BI and Microsoft Fabric analytics platform, including data model standards and a governed single source of truth
- Partner with Finance, Sales, Supply Chain, and Operations to deliver decision-grade reporting, analytics, and business intelligence
- Lead responsible adoption of AI technologies, including Microsoft 365 Copilot and Power Platform, while ensuring proper governance, security, and user adoption
Cybersecurity & Risk Management
- Establish and maintain a corporate-wide information security program to ensure that information assets are adequately protected
- Drive a zero-trust, identity-first security model including multifactor authentication, Conditional Access, single sign-on, privileged access management, and least-privilege role design
- Identify, evaluate, and communicate information security risks in a manner that meets compliance and regulatory requirements
- Lead incident response planning, cybersecurity risk management, security awareness programs, and third-party security reviews
- Partner with company leadership and legal counsel to align security and privacy practices across the organization
Infrastructure & Business Continuity
- Own hybrid infrastructure across Microsoft Azure and on-premises compute, storage, virtualization, and enterprise networking
- Provide oversight of network, systems, database maintenance, performance, and Help Desk operations
- Own business continuity and disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution
- Define service levels, escalation paths, support standards, and customer satisfaction measurement for IT services
Application Support & Project Management
- Ensure IT supports enterprise applications and provides project management for technology initiatives
- Lead project identification, budgeting, vendor selection, implementation, training, and change management efforts
- Collaborate with operational departments to define reporting, analytics, and technology requirements that improve business performance
Comply with all company policies and procedures, demonstrating a strong commitment to Food Safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in support of product integrity, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent related experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Information Technology, including leadership and management of technical teams
- Experience leading enterprise ERP implementations, upgrades, or major enhancements; Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central preferred
- Experience leading cybersecurity programs, including identity management, endpoint security, incident response, and user awareness initiatives
- Experience supporting manufacturing operations and/or food and beverage production environments preferred
- International experience and knowledge of compliance regulations in Mexico and Panama preferred
- PMP, ITIL, CISSP, CISM, or relevant Microsoft certifications preferred
Requirements:
- Experience supporting external audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections
- Demonstrated experience communicating effectively with all levels of the organization, from executive leadership to production floor personnel
- Ability to execute both tactical and strategic initiatives
- Proven experience collaborating with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, and Executive Leadership teams
- Demonstrated leadership ability with experience in management, strategic planning, supervision, and budgeting
- Ability to make sound business and technology decisions in fast-paced environments, including during operational disruptions and cybersecurity incidents
- Experience building and executing short- and long-term technology roadmaps
- Experience leading enterprise cybersecurity, infrastructure, cloud, ERP, and business application initiatives
- Experience developing and implementing data governance, analytics, business intelligence, and digital strategy initiatives
