Senior Controller (CPA) CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT

Position Summary:

We are “Golden State ADUs” a small developing full-service design-build ADU construction company looking to on-board a highly motivated, experienced to become a part of our team and ultimately enjoys working in a collaborative environment and is passionate about financial integrity and process improvement.

About Us:

Since Mid-2020, our team has developed into a reliable ADU construction resource for the local homeowners, developers, and contractors in the Sacramento region and beyond. Design-build various residential new construction ADU projects. With our experienced and fine-tuned dynamic teamwork, we look to further develop our team, our reach into the industry, our relationships, and to continue providing our clients with industry leading ADU construction services within the residential sector. This is a unique opportunity for a talented individual to put their skills to a test and become a vital part of a professional developing firm.

Responsibilities:

Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and month-end close
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Manage job costing, WIP schedules, percent-complete reporting, and revenue recognition
Monitor project profitability, identifying cost overruns, under/over-billings, and margin risks
Lead cash flow management, forecasting, and liquidity planning across active projects
Oversee progress billings, retainage tracking, and change order financial impacts
Maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance with regulatory requirements
Coordinate with external CPAs, auditors, tax preparers, and bonding/insurance providers
Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses
Improve and scale accounting systems, processes, and job-cost reporting accuracy
Provide clear financial insights and reporting to ownership and executive leadership
Mentor and oversee bookkeeping and accounting staff, ensuring accuracy and accountability

Preferred Qualifications/Experience: (Age 18+ w/ access to automotive transportation)

General College Degree or preferred Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
Licensed CPA
Min. 6-8 years of accounting experience (preferably in the construction or real estate development industry)
Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Etc.)
Adobe Acrobat
ERP, HR, QuickBooks, Google Products,
Effective soft skills (written/verbal)
Teamwork and team building abilities
Strong multi-tasking, organizational and time management skills
Analytical/Strategic thinking abilities
High attention to detail
Strong understanding of GAAP, job costing, and construction project accounting principles.
Ability to Pioneer and innovate in a developing business environment

Pay:

Hourly: (: $120,000.00) – ( $165,000.00)

Schedule:

Full Time Position: 8hr Shifts /40hr’s a week
Monday-Friday (9:00am-5:30pm) PT
(2) 10-15min breaks included
30min lunch break
