Duties and Responsibilities:
- Communicate cultural nuances while preserving the clarity, tone and style from one language into another (English<>Target Language)
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service and communication skills
- Remain composed in emergency or high stress interpreting situations
- Maintain professional certifications
- Provide medical immunization records for TB and Influenza
- Abide by organization standards as well as the Code of Ethics for Interpreting
The ideal candidate will:
- Demonstrate expertise of English and Target Language
- Minimum 2 years-experience as a professional interpreter, medical/healthcare/social work interpreting preferred
- Certification for medical interpreting and on-going interest in continuous learning
- Understanding of the “Roles of Interpreting” as defined by National Council on Interpreting in Health Care
- Higher level education from their native country or the United States
- Familiar with technology and use of computers
- Flexible Schedule – AM Shift, PM Shift and Overnight Shift – including weekends and holidays
- Have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
